Something to consider @AWaaning
Early mobilisation should be focussed on CFS 4-6. 1-3 will sort themselves out out. 7 - 9 need more specialist expertise. #BGSConf

This is where we need to start recognising and responding to frailty. In @Krockdoc's native Newfoundland, this is the point at which people can no longer shovel snow off the roof - a common early warning sign that functional decline has begun #BGSconf

"Proactive care is key to delaying frailty, maintaining independence, and reducing avoidable ill health. We need a more equitable approach to care across the UK." ~ @JKDhesi, BGS President Elect bgs.org.uk/policy-and-media/…

The role of District Nurses is vital, increasingly complex and requires considerable skill. Without adequate DNs the nursing care of our older patients especially and palliative care in the home setting will fail. @TheQNI
A national shortage of district nurses has been highlighted by a coroner in a warning to @VictoriaAtkins after a man's death. The number of district nurses has more than halved since 2010 and repeatedly highlighted by @TheQNI as a safety risk:

#Rehabilitation should be a component of virtually all care for older people. There is no such thing as ‘no rehabilitation potential.’ Read our new report 'Reablement, Rehabilitation, Recovery: Everyone’s business' #BGSrehab #RighttoRehab #Rehablegend bgs.org.uk/Rehab

One of the things we often get wrong in health & care improvement is prioritising performance improvement (process-technical aspects) over the emotional experience of participants. We need to make consideration of emotional factors one of our highest priorities in change initiatives. This includes: 1) how we make connections with values, through emotions, to engage people in change & 2) appreciating emotions & related cognitions & behaviours surrounding events during change. Rehabilitation must not be a forgotten art. It is the difference between living functionally and independently and just living. Please therapy colleagues let’s bang this drum 🥁!

Patients with a Clinical Frailty Scale score of 6 are likely to experience functional decline if admitted to hospital. Important to prevent frailty-associated problems. Get specialist input and CGA #BGSconf

An interesting thread @mcginnessaus @thehickeyclan
This thread has some interesting debate on scheduling tools for #CommunityNursing. Interested to hear views of nurses using these tools - how are you finding them? @WeDistrictNurse
