On Wednesday, I challenged Sadiq Khan’s proposal to impose 5,600 homes on Croydon’s Green Belt. Croydon can meet its housing target without sacrificing green space. We should focus on brownfield land, stalled sites and regenerating our town and district centres first. Once the Green Belt is gone, it is gone for good.

Fantastic to be at the packed launch of the Asian Resource Centre for Communities community base in the former Broad Green Library. This reflects my vision for libraries and community bases - run by the community, for the community, and places people are proud to call home. Importantly, this is still a library, now alongside amazing additional facilities including learning space, digital access, health and wellbeing activities, and room for community events. What was once a library open just two days a week is now a community base open six days a week, bringing this much-loved building back to life at the heart of Broad Green and making it work for everyone. @ARCCLTD

I was delighted to once again attend the AGM of the @ARCCLTD - a hugely valued organisation in our borough, providing practical support, guidance and community connection for residents from all backgrounds. They will soon be re-opening Broad Green Library as a new community base, where they will be creating a welcoming space for learning, wellbeing and cultural activity. I look forward to seeing this new chapter take shape and to continuing our work together to support Croydon’s communities. @CroydonBMEForum
