I am still recruiting coaches for this study! If you have recordings of you coaching from any point this year, and are willing to take part in two interviews, you not only be helping build evidence towards what coaching and learning looks like in esports, but also the opportunity to reflect on and learn about your learning environment! Calling League of Legends Coaches 🎮 Are you currently coaching a semi-professional League of Legends team? I’m conducting a study examining how esports coaches design, deliver and review team practice. This is part of my PhD research at @QUT. The project aims to better understand coaching in competitive League of Legends and contribute to evidence-informed approaches to coach development and practice design. Participation involves: 🎤 Two online, audio-recorded interviews (30–60 minutes each): one before the training observation period and one after the recorded sessions have been analysed. 🎥 Recording and securely sharing approximately 3–5 upcoming team training sessions for research analysis. The study focuses on the coaching environment rather than evaluating individual player performance. By participating, coaches can contribute their experiences and perspectives to research that may inform future esports coach education and practice design. Participants will also receive a summary of the research findings upon completion. Interested or have questions? Get in touch! 📧 kabir.bubna@hdr.qut.edu.au or drop me a DM here. This study has received approval from the QUT Human Research Ethics Committee (10534) and is supervised by Adam Gorman and Craig McNulty, PhD ♥️ and 🔄 greatly appreciated!

2. Wettbewerb bleibt der Kern. 3. Entertainment schafft Reichweite. 4. Community ist mehr als Publikum. 5. Zukunft heißt zunehmend Stabilisierung statt reines Wachstum.

Stoked to see interest in the role of the menstrual cycle in esports performance! Let's keep the talks going! While these findings emphasise how cognition/symptoms interact across the menstrual cycle, we need to be cautious in directly applying them to female esports players 1/4
Female gamers: your menstrual cycle is effecting your cognitive performance, but not during the phase you might assume. This study found while 55% of women felt mentally worse during menstruation, but their performance data showed no objective drop then. Cognitive performance (reaction time and errors) actually dipped mid-luteal phase, when progesterone peaks and cortical excitability drops. Here's what I recommend to my clients: → Drink excess water during your period -- blood is 80% water, you're actively bleeding, and dehydration nukes cognition... → Supplement with creatine + electrolytes -- these can help improve blood flow & reduce GI symptoms via their osmotic effects → Consider increasing stimulant usage during mid-luteal phase -- the strategy here is to elevate cortisol via CNS stimulation in an effort to offset the phase-related deficit. Important note: This study was done over the course of one monthly cycle. As a result, I do believe there needs to be more longitudinal research conducted to better understand how hormone severity and individual variability impacts cognitive performance.
