Did you know that even Italians aren’t united against pineapple on pizza? For example, Franco Pepe, an internationally acclaimed master pizzaiolo from Naples, challenged the taboo with his interpretation of pineapple pizza - a fried pizza cone featuring fresh pineapple wrapped in San Daniele prosciutto. One thing is sure: Good pizza makers should never cut corners on the quality of the dough, ingredients or baking. But creative toppings? They make the job fun and the experience delicious!

The Pizza Theorem states that if a pizza is divided by straight cuts (radii of the pizza) through a common point (not necessarily the center), and the number of cuts is a multiple of four (4, 8, 12, etc.), then it is possible to divide the pizza into equal-area slices among two people, with each person receiving alternate slices.

We’re glad A. Litteri is bringing attention to the importance of freshly baked bread in an Italian sandwich! At Salumeria 2703 in Brookland, we’ve been baking our own bread since we first opened in 2016 - with just flour, water, yeast, and salt. 🇮🇹🥖

Neapolitan pizza has been around for more than 200 years. It’s recipe is unchanged, simple. At Menomale we are staying true to tradition and honoring it, one pizza at a time. 🇮🇹
It's wild to think that Neapolitan pizza was already a popular street food in Vivaldi's lifetime. When he wrote "Le quattro stagioni" in 1725, tomatoes were just entering the Neapolitan pizza scene as a topping. The typical toppings at the time were lard, grated cheese, basil & pepper.
Meet the Panuozzo: a Neapolitan pizza-dough sandwich baked in our wood-fired oven for crisp exterior and soft center. Stuffed with Italian favorites like prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, sausage, and more. It's not your average sandwich! 2711 12th Street NE or 33 N Street NE in DC
It’s been incredible to see people visit our free America 250 exhibit on how Italian food became part of American history. 🇺🇸🇮🇹 This has been the most rewarding part of creating it. If you’re in DC, come experience it for yourself—and perhaps stay for a slice. 🍕
Throughout history, people have created amazing things out of necessity. Burrata is one example. Invented in Puglia in the 1920s, it transformed mozzarella scraps and cream into a delicacy. We pair 100% Wisconsin-made burrata with our house-made bread and garlic olive oil.😋
Spain vs Argentina is wild! Both teams are beasts on the soccer field! ⚽️ 90 minutes in, no goals yet! Is the game making you hungry? Our 🍕 pizzas take 90 seconds!
