At Sweetgreen, we believe the food we eat has a profound impact—not just on our health, but on our communities and the planet. Last year, we began removing seed oils—introducing extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil for roasting our vegetables and proteins. This shift was driven by our commitment to using thoughtfully chosen ingredients that align with both our values and the evolving preferences of our customers. This January, we’re excited to take it a step further with the launch of our first-ever seed oil-free menu. Featuring delicious, protein-packed options crafted entirely without seed oils, this lineup offers more transparency and choices for our guests. Whether it’s our approach to roasting or creating dressings from scratch, we’re redefining fast food to prioritize real ingredients that fuel your body and inspire a healthier food system—one flavorful bite at a time. Our country is having a long-overdue conversation about food. And it’s about time. From ultra-processed ingredients to artificial additives, there’s a lot on our plates that isn’t doing us any favors. We believe this moment is our chance to change that—to redefine food so it nourishes us, supports our communities, and honors the people who grow it. Extra virgin olive oil and avocado oil are key to this shift, not just for their flavor, but for their health benefits and alignment with our values. These oils are minimally processed, rich in healthy fats, and free from the high-heat extraction methods used for seed oils like sunflower oil. By making this change, we’re taking a stand for better ingredients that respect both the earth and our well-being. At Sweetgreen, this isn’t new. For us, it’s a calling we’ve felt from day one, a belief that food should be real, scratch-cooked, and sourced responsibly. It’s about raising the bar so that fresh, quality ingredients are the norm, not the exception. This is possible when we put people, standards, and communities at the center of our food system. A better food future doesn’t just mean focusing on what we serve—it’s also about supporting the people who make food possible. Under this green roof, we’re committed to sourcing directly from farmers we know and trust, and who we’re proud to call friends. Together, we’re supporting a transition to more organic practices, reducing reliance on pesticides, and preserving healthy soil and our communities. Fast food has undeniably shaped the American food landscape, but we believe it’s time for a new vision. Fast food should mean fast access to quality food that’s both nourishing and sustainable. It can be done, and we’re committed to proving it. Change is within reach. Let’s choose a future where food serves us all. It’s possible if we do it together.

A little update: DC Bitcoin bar PubKey is no longer planning to open a basement steakhouse at this time. They're instead focusing on private events (like the recent pro-data center party). washingtonian.com/2025/12/03…

A new “modern coastal” restaurant has arrived in Bloomingdale. A new Bloomingdale "modern coastal" restaurant is serving coffee-rubbed brisket, fire-roasted scallops, Creole shrimp scampi...and dinner for your dog on the patio. Bramble & Rye has its own “paw-tio” menu with puppy poke, wood-fired chicken and rice, peanut butter biscuits, and pup-sicles. washingtonian.com/2026/09/24…

Meanwhile, a tipster tells me they spotted Elizabeth Warren at the Red Hen last night.
SPOTTED (predictable edition): Ted Cruz at the Capital Grille. Darrell Issa too.
