The New York Rangers organization mourns the loss of Ron Duguay, one of the most popular players in franchise history. Ron's signature skating style - with his hair flowing as he moved down the ice - captivated The Garden Faithful, and his skill, tenacity, and charisma earned him the admiration of all New Yorkers. We join the hockey community in sending our condolences to Ron's friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Replying to @NYCMayor
This is a reprehensible statement on the anniversary of the horrific terrorist attack by a Palestinian terrorist organization against innocent Israelis.
In the guise of âgrievingâ with those mourning that day, Mayor Mamdani asserts as fact hotly disputed allegations that he knows full well will offend and further upset those same people he pretends to grieve with.
On this day of all days, the Mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population outside of Israel embraces extreme activism instead of balanced leadership.

âWe are not all right.â
I said those words in the days after October 7, 2023. Three years later, we are STILL not all right.
We remember the children, parents and grandparents murdered by Hamas. The young people who went to a music festival and never came home. The families whose pain does not end when the anniversary passes.
And we are not all right when antisemitism spreads like wildfire, too often fueled or excused by government officials who have a responsibility to confront it. We are not all right when Jewish families live in fear and those entrusted to protect them look the other way.
It is more important than ever to stand up, speak out and fight this hatred. Silence cannot be our answer.
To my Jewish brothers and sisters: Your fight is my fight. I am your brother. I stood beside you then. I stand beside you now. And I always will.
May the memories of those we lost be a blessing.

Today, we mark three years since the horrific Hamas attacks on Israel â a day that changed the Jewish people forever.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists slaughtered more than 1,200 people, took 250 hostages, raped women and girls, and committed unspeakable acts of brutality against innocent men, women, and children. Families were torn apart, lives were destroyed, and a sense of safety that so many Jews had taken for granted was shattered in an instant.
Three years later, that pain has not gone away. If anything, it has been compounded by the alarming rise of antisemitism around the world â including here in New York. Jews should never have to hide who they are, watch what they say, or wonder whether they are safe simply because they are Jewish.
As a Jew, October 7 is deeply personal to me and my family. I will never forget what happened that day, and I will never accept the attempts to minimize, excuse, or rewrite the horrors committed by Hamas.
As County Executive, I have made keeping our community safe a top priority. As your next Governor, I will fight to ensure that every Jewish New Yorker can walk the streets proudly and openly as a Jew, without fear.
We will remember the victims. We will stand with the hostages and their families. We will stand with Israel. And we will never allow the hatred that led to October 7 to become normalized here in New York.

Fuck you @NYCMayor. Is this seriously your response. This is like when the gun lobby folks would say to me regarding the murder of my daughter "sorry for your loss but....."
You are despicable.
At least for today, keep your "but" out of this.
Seriously, your message is just awful.
This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.
The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli governmentâs devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestiniansâincluding more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them â all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.
Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.
To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity.

Matt Suhey passed away yesterday.
He was my dadâs closest friend. After we lost my dad in 1999, Matt became the biggest father figure I had. When everything felt uncertain, he was there. My dad left him in charge and Matt never let that responsibility sit lightly. He protected our family. He looked after us. He made sure we were okay, year after year, without ever making it about himself.
That is who he was.
Their friendship showed me what real friendship looks like. Not the easy kind. The kind that lasts when the lights go off, when the stadium is empty, when life gets heavy. Brianâs Song told the story of Piccolo and Sayers. Somebody needs to tell the story of 34 and 26. Two men who trusted each other completely. Two men who became brothers.
I know @walterpayton was standing there waiting for him the second he got to heaven. I can see it. That smile. That hug. That reunion they both deserved.
Our family is so thankful for the love he showed us over the years. The Payton family will continue to lift Donna, Joey, Allison, and Scotty up in prayer during this difficult time.
Rest easy, Uncle Matt. We love you. We always will. đđ˝đťâŹď¸

Defenders â and some critics â of Hasan Piker just donât get it. The issue isnât (just) that he lumps all Jews together and holds us all accountable for the supposed evils of Israel. Itâs that his nonstop drive to demonize the worldâs sole Jewish state, along with those who support its survival, crosses the line â by miles â between criticism and Jew hatred of the ancient variety.Â
Also, Mr. Piker, Zionism is in fact bound up with Judaism. It is not âfalse conflation.â Yes, some Jews are anti-Zionists. And yes, you have helped turned the Z-word into a slur such that large numbers of Jews, particularly younger ones, disown it partly out of misunderstanding. But when Jews are attacked for supporting Israel, they are being attacked for a core part of their Jewish identity. It is Jew hatred, it is unacceptable, and your rhetoric encourages it. Spare us all your taxonomy of good Jews and bad Jews.

Welcome to Socialism
Mayor Mamdani with fanfare released a list of 960,000 owners of real estate in New York City that have been determined they could owe the pied a terre tax because NYC computers have determined they own what was billed as a market value of $5 million or more.
Now there are only about 1 million residential tax lots in New York City so the first question is how did virtually every owner get put on the list?
The answer is that you are subject to the tax in the first two years if your property has a âDOF valuationâ of over $1 million. And so the $5 million figure was a fake. The DOF system is obviously massively flawed as it has dragged in almost a million property owners that meet the threshold.
Now, here is the interesting part â once you are on the list you have to prove you should not be taxed by showing you are a resident. Or by challenging the valuation. Good luck fighting the city bureaucrats on both of these counts. The individual litigation will be massive.
It does not take more than a New York minute and Google Maps to see that many of these properties would never sell for $5 million. Pick a few. The whole housing sector will also be dragged down by the additional annual taxation. Add a tax of 4 to 6 per cent (yes condos are taxed that high now) a year of its DOF value to a condo or coop and that condo wonât be worth that much. And you can forget about out of town buyers. So this will destroy much of the home values that people have built up. People who have invested in New York.
Many of these folks might have a mortgage and may in fact not have they much equity in the property. The tax-the-rich taxman does not care about that. An unexpected $50,000 annual bill for a condo with a DOF value of a million now has the cost of a second mortgage on top of all the expenses.
The idea of the tax was basically to create massive taxation without representation. The people being taxed â non residents â by definition donât vote and so the political genius was to create and discriminate against a class of people who do not vote. That by itself might be unconstitutional. And they also donât use the schools, much garbage, much of any of the cityâs services. So taxing them actually makes little sense as you drive away people who were contributing but not using the services.
Now many will recall that persecutions frequently begin with a list â a list that can be used by the authorities and that is where Mamdani started â and he published it to boot. And smiled about it as though those high-value owners deserve whatâs coming to them.
But with a million people on his tax hit list, welcome to the lie of socialism - it starts with the idea that only âtheyâ are going to get it â a small group of 30,000 homeowners â and before you know it you are on the list.
