Understanding animal sounds with machine learning - Bioacoustic AI

Animals make sounds that convey so much information. How can we use this to help monitor and protect wildlife? In our research programme we want to make sense of animal sounds using AI.

#Behaviour2023 was a great conference! Lots of great discussions on animal behaviour, welfare, and sounds. Our work is now published: "Learning to detect an animal sound from five examples" doi.org/10.1016/j.ecoinf.202… #bioacoustics #deeplearning @2023Behaviour xitter.cf/b_kriengwatana/status/…

It's been a few days since @2023Behaviour ended but I'm still amazed by @mclduk talk on #AI few-shot learning for #bioacoustic classification & the future of multi agent interactions 🤯

Mastodon is fine, please don’t go to Bluesky which basically promises to be the next Twitter - isn’t that bad surely? Mastodon is genuinely great and it’s not run by megalomaniacs and it’s not for profit and you won’t be a product on it.

By the way, Mastodon's working out fine, I'm solar_chase on the .green server. It's a bit less addictive than Twitter in its prime but it's a nice place to chat and hang out.

Back of my Polling Card for local elections. For 1st time, photo ID is required. Card gives many options for elderly or those with disability. None, NONE, for younger or student voters. The policy is simply biased against younger voters, designed to suppress their vote.
