Jeff Kennett: Opened 0 schools and closed 350. ​Bracks/Brumby: Opened 28 schools, rebuilt 17, merged 96, and closed 39. ​Baillieu/Napthine: Built 0 schools and closed 0 schools. ​Andrews/Allan: Built 121 schools (since 2017), upgraded thousands more, and closed only a handful (roughly 10, mostly tied to small-scale mergers). ​I’ve long argued that conservative governments deliberately cut education funding. Why? Because they know an educated electorate won't vote for them.
