ESTRADA: EASY TO DECLARE CHINESE ENVOY PERSONA NON GRATA, BUT CONSEQUENCES HARD TO BEAR LOOK: Senator Jinggoy Estrada cautioned against hastily declaring Chinese Ambassador Jing Quan persona non grata, warning that the consequences of such a move could be difficult to bear. In a statement on Sunday, Oct. 18, Estrada described Jing’s remarks regarding China’s possible use of force as “unfortunate and unconstructive.” While acknowledging calls to expel the envoy, Estrada stressed that the Philippines must strongly protest his statements and demand respect without severing diplomatic channels. “Madaling sabihin ang pagdedeklara ng persona non grata, pero ang pananagutan sa magiging kahihinatnan nito ay hindi madaling pasanin,” Estrada said.
