Hot off the press, first PI paper 🎉. Reporting a novel protein (VIA1) involved in thylakoid membrane biogenesis. VIA1 (similar to ESCRT-II) and bind to chloroplast ESCRT-III (VIPP1). Showing a direct role of VIPP1 in thylakoid biogenesis. @CellReports

Heat doesn't wreck the genome's 3D structure, it selectively loosens boundaries at stress-protective genes, then restores them in cooler months. This reversibility is the key for a tree that must survive decades of summers. Amazing genomics.....kudos to all authors @KCGEB1
Pleased to share our new preprint 🌿🧬. Our data suggest that Ghaf (Prosopis cineraria) uses reversible chromatin remodeling to survive and recover from desert heat. We welcome community review, questions, and constructive feedback.

Some obvious flaws:
1. No negative control eye drops (e.g., heat-deactivated thylakoids).
4. Unclear whether it is "photosynthesis in the eye" or just delivery of some chloroplast proteins that causes access NADP production.
5. No TEM images provided where actual thylakoid is in cornea.
Recently, such "inserting isolated thylakoids randomly" studies have been emerging more frequently, often without much controls and analysis.
