The Canadian parliament & Mark Carney's decision not to do the most basic forest maintenance out of climate activism stupidity is now threatening hundreds of millions of Americans with carcinogens. Levy sanctions & then take Alberta as compensation.
Another wave of dense wildfire smoke is forecast to reach New York and New England on Thursday afternoon and evening before it surges into the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday night. Thick, unhealthy smoke is expected in D.C. on Friday, with some reaching Virginia and North Carolina.

🚨 BREAKING: Michigan officially has the WORST air quality on the PLANET — outpacing India, China, and the Republic of Congo — by A LOT. A 518 AQI because CANADA can’t get their wildfires under control. 💨 This level of micro dust causes LONG-TERM irreversible lung damage.

Suffocating Summer: Step outside today and you can taste it. Ash is falling in the UP. The Mackinac Bridge has vanished into haze. EGLE has all of Michigan under an Air Quality Alert, with northern air that could hit Hazardous. One year ago, in the op-ed below, I warned this would keep happening and laid out exactly how to make Canada pay: State Department arbitration under the 1991 U.S.-Canada Air Quality Agreement (Trail Smelter, 1941: the polluter pays) and a USMCA dispute with trade remedies until Ottawa manages its forests. This is negligence, not an act of God. I also implored our current leaders to act then, not wait for the next election. One year later: nothing. @dananessel launched a climate lawsuit against American oil companies, but won't send Canada a bill for the smoke filling Michigan lungs today. President Trump and @USTradeRep have the leverage to move this tomorrow. Michigan should be first in line. @GovWhitmer and Nessel could formally request arbitration this week. If they won't defend Michigan's air, they should tell us why. The tools exist. The smoke is here. The silence is a choice. Let's make Michigan safe, normal, and responsible again! 🇺🇸 @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @SecRubio @MIGOP @MI_Republicans @Th_Midwesterner @stevegrubershow @MrJustinBarclay @gatewaypundit @Rescue_Michigan @HarmeetKDhillon @elonmusk @timlovesann @mifairelections @TruckerRandy @DonnieDetroit19 @downi75 @MonicaYatooma @Mike_Cox @PJQualityGuru
Michigan is suffocating from Canadian wildfire smoke - causing unhealthy air, surges in ER visits, premature deaths, and lost tourism revenue. In my op-ed and as MI’s next AG, I describe how we can hold Canada accountable and compensate victims. Enough. 🇺🇸 michigannewssource.com/2025/…

I am not a political person. The scientific community and the data and evidence overwhelmingly shows that morning sunlight is imperative for good health. There are Republicans and Democrats both on the right side of this as seen by legislation just introduced - bipartisan calling for permanent standard time. But there are also Republicans and Democrats on the wrong side of this issue that because of either intellectual laziness or willful ignorance have voted for a bill that will remove morning sunlight for hundreds of millions of people that they are financially medically responsible for, and it will increase the risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease as well as certain types of cancers that we have evidence for. I am a boarded Sleep specialist, which means that I am an expert in this field. This is not my opinion, but the position of thousands of professionals who understand the circadian rhythm and the tremendous impact that this will have hundreds of millions of people in the United States. It is completely untenable that the supreme governing body of our country would make a decision about this without weighing the evidence. Making standard time permanent is literally the lowest hanging fruit that we could decide to improve the health of our country. Instead, we have politicians going on this platform to boast that they gave more sunlight to their constituents. As if the stroke of their mighty pen could add one second to the amount of sunlight that comes from the sun. Complete ignorance.

America already made daylight saving time permanent once. In December 1973, 79% of Americans supported it and Nixon signed it into law. By February 1974, eight weeks into the experiment, support had collapsed to 42%. The policy never changed. Winter arrived. Sunrise in Washington DC came at 8:27am. Kids left for school in total darkness, carrying flashlights and wearing reflective tape. When Congress moved to repeal, members cited the deaths of eight Florida schoolchildren in the first weeks of the change. The energy case collapsed too. The whole point was the oil embargo, and the Department of Transportation concluded the fuel savings were too small to matter. Ten months after signing it, Congress repealed it and Ford put the country back on standard time. There's a mechanism that makes this cycle repeat: permanent DST is only ever voted on when the sun is up. Polls run in the abstract, votes happen in warm months, and the benefit, a free hour of evening light, is easy to imagine year-round. The cost is concentrated in about 10 weeks of dark winter mornings and only becomes real after implementation. So the policy polls beautifully right up until January. Today's vote happened in July. The 1974 law passed in December, right before the exact winter that killed it. If this clears the Senate, the first real test arrives in January 2027, when sunrise in Indianapolis comes after 9am. Sleep researchers have watched this loop for 50 years, which is why the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the AMA, and the National Sleep Foundation all back the opposite reform, permanent standard time. Congress just picked the one version of clock reform America has already tried, hated, and repealed.
BREAKING: House votes 308-117 to make daylight saving time permanent, sending the bill to the Senate.

Everyone agrees the twice-a-year clock change is ridiculous. But if we’re making one time permanent, why choose the one that most sleep and circadian experts don’t recommend? Permanent standard time aligns better with our biology because morning sunlight is what sets our internal clocks. Permanent Daylight Saving Time means darker winter mornings, later body clocks, and more circadian disruption. This would be another disaster for American health. It’s probably too late to stop this but switch this to permanent Standard time instead!!!!
BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.

Permanent Daylight Saving Time is an absolutely atrocious idea, so of course the Congress that can get nothing of importance done is all over it

No. Daylight Saving Time is a mandate to wake early, sleep less, to profit special interests. Ditch clock change with permanent Standard Time instead—healthier, natural, and fair!

We’ve already attempted the experiment. It failed. Miserably. Didn’t even last a whole year. Rescinded in 9 months. 🤷🏽‍♂️

No Senator, this is a big loss! West Virginia would see winter sunrise as late as 8:45am, and later than 8am for up to FOUR MONTHS, dangerous for commuters and schoolchildren. We need morning light, we need permanent Standard Time!

A doorbell camera captures two Soldiers—one a battle-hardened Sergeant Major, the other an officer—standing at a family’s door in full dress uniform. They wait with quiet dignity, heads up, eyes steady. The weight of what they’re there to do is written on their faces. They’re not delivering good news. As we approach Memorial Day, it’s easy to post flags and barbecues. But this is the real cost. Since our nation’s founding, as many as 1.4 million American service members have made the ultimate sacrifice—fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters—who never came home. Every Gold Star family knows that knock. Every folded flag, every name on a wall, every empty seat at the table carries a story of love, duty, and unbearable loss. Tonight I’m praying for every family who’s ever answered that door. For every name we must never forget. And for the brave men and women in uniform who still carry the hardest mission of all: telling a family their hero is gone. We owe them everything. Freedom isn’t free. It’s given by the blood of patriotic heroes.
