Wrapping up a fantastic trip to Helsinki, where Bitcoin is alive and well. Heat recapture from mining may hold the most potential here of any alternative use case. Heating demand is huge, and I hope the utilities and regulators embrace this technology with open arms.

The Finnish people are incredibly welcoming. I also learned that North America has been doing saunas wrong. Throw real löyly on the rocks with a proper ladle, keep a cold plunge close by, and never, ever let it drop below 80°C.

Sorry to see XBT becoming shittier and shittier by the day.
How can they possibly think of handicapping the miners by withholding their rewards for up to three epochs? It completely distorts the economics of miners and the value of the coin itself.
SV1 is a problem that does not seem to have a real solution. But I seriously don't think Alphapool will attack a good source of revenue "just for fun" as CGuida says, but now they will just abandon it as they are obviously not welcomed anymore.
So now XBT will be even more of a shitcoin as it will have even less proof of work backing it.
It is clear the XBT people don't fundamentally understand the role of mining in a decentralized currency and instead squirm in fear of it.
Very sad indeed.

Just got off a call with a waste mgmt consortium who have
1. significant methane emissions on multiple landfills affecting air quality, tourism, human health
2. concluded the only viable solution is Bitcoin mining
3. are asking when we can visit
They don't want one Bitcoin on of their landfills, they want it piloted on one, then rolled out to all the other major emitters.
And because methane is such a powerful greenhouse gas, just one of these landfill will offset the emissions of a whole midsized city.
3 years ago, landfill owners didn't want to know us/ Fellow-environmentalists scoffed at the idea Bitcoin mining could do anything good for the environment. Fellow investors said things like "remind me the name of your fund, so I'm sure never to invest"
The impact that Bitcoin can make for people and planet is only just beginning.

Todd Beamer was the passenger on United Airlines Flight 93 who rallied fellow passengers to fight back against the 9/11 hijackers with the phrase "Let's roll" and stopped it from reaching Washington, DC.
This is his daughter, Morgan, who was born 4 months after his death and went on to play women's soccer at his alma mater, Wheaton College.

Rep. Pierce authored HB 1042, Indiana's Bitcoin Bill of Rights, and Megawatt provided industry expertise and perspective as the bill moved through the legislature.
HB 1042 took effect July 1. It protects Bitcoin mining in Indiana and bars state and local governments from singling out digital asset transactions for discriminatory taxes or fees.
Megawatt runs mining infrastructure, but growing the industry responsibly also takes engagement with policymakers, education, and clear rules that give miners, entrepreneurs, investors, and everyday bitcoiners confidence to build in Indiana.
We'll keep doing that work with Indiana lawmakers and organizations like @standwithcrypto as the state develops its approach to Bitcoin and digital asset policy.
