English has some weird quirks.
A number of words in English are NOUNS when you stress the FIRST syllable...
But VERBS when you stress the SECOND syllable.
-SUSpect/susPECT
-CONflict/conFLICT
-PROtest/proTEST
-CONvert/conVERT

A Horse sized Duck, though difficult, would yield a delicious curry if defeated. Batak curry for the win!

@piotikoduaduafj Would you rather fight a horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses?

While opening the Workshop on the Implementation Plan of the Regional KAVA Development Strategy and the Geographical Indication for KAVA today, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Manoa Kamikamica highlighted the vulnerability of Pacific kava to exploitation.
"The absence of a robust system to protect the geographical indication of Pacific kava makes it susceptible to exploitation and misrepresentation by others. Recent media reports have highlighted instances where kava has been successfully cultivated and harvested outside the region, in the United States, and potentially other areas worldwide."
He was "pleased to note that our senior officials have elevated Geographical Indication as a stand-alone strategic priority under the Kava Regional Strategy."
This is part of the united #onebluepacific KAVA approach. #KAVAGI
Remarks were also delivered by EU Acting Head of Delegation @askoltu, and PIFS Director Programmes & Initiatives @ZarakFJ.
#RegionalKava2024 is led by the @EUPasifika funded #SPIRITproject of @ForumSEC in partnership with the @spc_cps's ACP Businesss-Friendly programme which is funded by EU and @PressACP and jointly implemented by @ITCnews, the World Bank and @UNIDO.

If you've ever walked down the street and noticed more and more bars labeled "kava," you're not alone. Over the last few years, the number of bars selling a plant-based drink called kava have skyrocketed. But, the industry is propped up by another substance entirely: kratom.

‘Taumafa Kava’ is a Royal Sacred Kava Ceremony which solidifies traditional ideals of mutual respect, among others, in the presence of His Majesty, surrounded by His nobles and talking chiefs. One of the formalities of which include a ‘kaifono’, wherein the ‘fahu’, or the person of a higher rank (in Tongan family structure) to that who was assigned a ‘fono’, within the kava circle, will have the honor of taking or simply striking the ‘fono’ to indicate that it’s his. And since no one in Tonga is above the highest, the ‘kaifono’ for His Majesty is always performed by a foreigner, which in this case was the son of the High Commissioner of Australia to Tonga. Such a cute one, and was very well performed 🙏🇹🇴
