He intended to kill Helen Haines. This is more than 'political violence' - it is a violent man choosing to kill a woman. This is male terrorism.
Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke says the man in custody allegedly rammed Dr Haines twice in the car park outside her Victorian electorate office.
He performed a U-turn to do this and then he reversed and hit her again.
Right now, everyone is labelling his actions as a political act. But this is so much more. His intention was clear - to murder a woman.
Gendered violence is Australia's biggest human rights violation and it is also epidemic in our country.
We need to start labelling these acts for what they are. Male terrorism against women.
I urge the US not to follow the Islamic State, Hamas, the Taliban and Iran in holding public executions

This is today's Australian Labor Party in a nutshell
Desperate to please people who will hate them regardless while showjng nothing but contempt for their traditional base
The more it pisses everyone off, the more determined they are to keep doing it
How many of these countries televised the executions?
Executions are too often carried out against those that authoritarian governments wish to disappear, extrajudicially, without due process, or often even representation.
Which is why they shouldn’t be conducted. The price of a flawed political or legal system is too high.
The price of a human life.
Human rights advocates and prominent anti-government figures in some countries, which includes athletes or protesters in Iran for example, or political prisoners in Saudi Arabia, are executed to promote a climate of fear.
The US is already high on the global list of executions.
The live streaming of those executions is barbaric and consistent with an increased use of violence, of violent language and govt naming conventions, and the glorification of violence by Hegseth and the US.

Honestly we've been doing this whole "oh don't fight Labor, it will help the right" nonsense for decades now. We've tried that path. Labor has been clear that they have more vitriol for greens than for the right and will never meaningfully work with them (since Gillard)

Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to tax gas? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to build public housing? Why doesn't Labor work with the Greens to end AUKUS?
Greens are happy to be constructive about things that materially benefit the public. We are not a rubber stamp.

The crossbench - led by @davidpocock and @sophiescamps - introduced an omnibus bill last week to stop Australia enabling genocide.
Most of the mainstream media ignored it, and Labor and the Coalition voted to block a Senate inquiry into the Red Lines Package – a highly unusual move.
So we're sharing the key details of the Red Lines Package. 👇️

This is for all those people that said it was a conspiracy theory that bot farms were being used to support One Nation in Australia. Dig a bit deeper and you will find all of these examples are being funded by Gina.

Crying ''antisemitism'' whenever int'l law is enforced makes no one safer.
Singling Jews out for special protection while a state commits crimes in their name, casts them as privileged, fuels resentment, and weakens the fight against real antisemitism -and racism- everywhere.

If Australia spends billions on defense while watching as education standards fall they are preparing a generation for Military service.
