Families grew into second, third, and fourth generations under occupation, uprising, closure, and, after 2007, blockade. Then came October 2023. By 2026, the UN says most of Gaza’s 2.1 million people remain displaced, while huge areas have been destroyed or sealed off. As of June 2026, the UN reported that nearly 65 percent of Gaza was under tighter Israeli control through the so-called “Orange Line.”
