You cannot reasonably charge citizens twice for the same road infrastructure. Either: 1. Collect tolls and reduce/abolish the upfront lifetime road tax at the time of vehicle registration, OR 2. Continue collecting the lifetime road tax and eliminate tolls on roads funded through public taxation. But charging both is nothing short of double taxation on vehicle owners. What makes this even more frustrating is that vehicle owners are paying these charges while also bearing the rising costs of fuel, insurance, maintenance, and vehicle prices. If tolls are genuinely necessary to recover the cost of constructing and maintaining specific roads, then there should be complete transparency about the project cost, amount recovered, outstanding balance, and a clearly defined date when toll collection will stop. A toll should not become a permanent source of revenue after the infrastructure cost has already been recovered. Citizens deserve transparency, accountability, and fairness—not multiple layers of taxation for simply using the roads they have already paid for. Please clarify why both lifetime road tax and widespread toll collection are being imposed on the same vehicle owners.
