Yesterday evening, the best kind of elephant rescue unfolded – one that ended with a little life saved and a wild family kept together. A young calf was found flailing inside a septic tank, trapped and unable to free herself. Keepers from our nearby Voi Reintegration Unit raced to the scene, alongside the SWT/KWS Tsavo Mobile Vet Unit. Together, they filled the tank with water, slowly floating her up to a level where she could be lifted onto solid ground. It was the moment her mother had been waiting for. The herd had remained in the area, panicky but clearly not yet giving up hope. The reunion at the end speaks for itself – sound up to hear the trumpets of joy! It isn’t always possible to reunite a trapped calf with her family. Often, by the time a calf is discovered, many hours have passed and the herd has been forced to move on. Whether it’s a rescue or a reunion, our team will be there, and we’ll make sure this tank is covered so it can’t happen again. The top advocate for Israel in Washington is now publicly arguing that Israel needs to integrate its military with ours so that it will be costly for the U.S. to extract itself from the relationship later, that doing so “would also carry a significant cost for Washington.” The Senate is debating this proposal now. We can’t really say later that we weren’t warned.
Odd for the CEO of FDD, a think tank claiming to be committed to “strengthening U.S. national security” to advocate for US-Israel “intelligence & economic integration to such an extent that inflicting financial harm on Israel would also carry a significant cost for Washington.”🤨

Due to their vocal structure, #cheetahs can’t roar like other big #cats. But, the cats still use a wide variety of vocalizations to communicate! They growl and hiss when facing danger, and communicate with barks, chirps and churrs. Cheetahs can also purr, just like a house #cat! Do you have a house cat with the personality of a big cat? Submit your photos to the House Cheetah Photo #Contest sponsored by meowbox! ✨Winners receive a 6-month subscription from meowbox, a FAHLO cheetah tracking bracelet, and a mini-feature in Cheetah Conservation Fund’s 2027 calendar (plus your own copy).🐾 Every single vote supports cheetah conservation!

Walking down memory lane with Chamboi the orphaned rhino. 🦏 Three years ago today, this critically endangered black rhino calf arrived at Kaluku after being abandoned as a newborn. Day by day, step by step, the tiny chap has blossomed into a very impressive adolescent. We’ve already walked a long way with Chamboi, but there is still much to come. When grown, he will return to the Tsavo ecosystem, where he will help Kenya’s black rhino population continue to grow. Adopt Chamboi and support his journey back to the wild: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/o…

'The image states that the design was inspired by the “discipline and functionality” of the uniforms in the 1997 film “Starship Troopers.”' Director Paul Verhoeven said his 1997 Starship Troopers was about ‘fascists who aren’t aware of their fascism’

I love the cams, have learned so much about our fellow creatures!
A week ago I noticed debris on yard bridge and thought it was storm related. I cleaned it off. I now have video evidence it was Woody the rat who lives under the bridge. I am wondering if the debris he is compiling is some sort of Snake prevention method? Fascinating!
