If I promise to give you my revenue for the next 2 weeks, will you slow down with the stories?
My friend who is 32 years old earns $4,800 CAD per month in Canada.
Last year, he brought his wife and 2-year-old daughter over. Life was finally stable.
Two months ago, his mother called him crying from Ibadan. “Your younger brother, Tunde, 28, has kidney failure. We need 12 Million Naira for transplant, or he will die.”
My friend has only $19,000 CAD in savings. That's about 22 Million Naira. It's his entire life savings for his house deposit in Canada.
His mother said: “If you don't bring this money, you have killed your brother. Don't forget we sold land to send you abroad.”
His wife said: “If you send that money, we lose our house deposit, our daughter loses her future. And this will not end. After kidney, they will bring another problem. Send 4 Million Naira, not 12 Million.”
My friend is confused. He told me: “Bro, if I don't pay, my brother dies and my village will say so my things on my head. they might even say I used him for rituals. If I pay everything, I destroy my wife and child's future here, and my wife said she will leave me.”
If you were him, would you SEND the full 12 MILLION NAIRA to save your brother, or PROTECT your wife and child in Canada?

Was checking something recently & noticed that all developed countries subsidize energy.. even the U.S heavily subsidize gas for their citizens
BREAKING: IMF warns Nigeria against restoring petrol subsidy, recommends targeted relief
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has advised Nigeria against restoring broad petrol subsidy, recommending targeted support for vulnerable households to cushion the impact of rising energy costs.
The fund said blanket petrol subsidies were expensive, often benefited higher-income consumers disproportionately and could worsen fiscal pressures amid rising borrowing costs.

Nepo babies. Dem bolo gan.
Someone sexualizes you. You sexualize them back.
They come online to bully you, like proper bullying - slapping your pictures, tagging your family & calling your friends rape apologist.
You run go lock account, indirectly admitting fault?
Wawu.
Gaming has always been about being temporarily transported to a different world and leaving reality behind.
Yesterday, after work, I played Lagos life with my 5yr old daughter, we spent almost two hours decorating apartments to her favorite colors whilst singing karaoke to some of our favorite songs.
Turned out to be one of the most memorable moments I've had with my kid so far. Nothing sad about that.
Let people have fun. It's OK to have fun.
At first I thought @LagosLifeApp was a cool idea. The Sims was pretty fun.
But it’s starting to seem very sad. My TL is full of grown men and women spending their time (during working hours) decorating houses for other people, looking after a baby, pets, cleaning etc.
Lagos is so broken that people are trying to escape into another world where they have money and they can do normal activities without worrying about the cost.
Gaming is a great way to transport yourself to a different world, just like reading a book or listening to music, but something feels messed up about this sort of escapism from a broken society 😢

We all played Police and Thief during lunch break in primary school. So I built an online version playable on phones.
Inspired by @Shalom_HeyEliy 's Lagos Life and @eureka_seamless's Danfo Run.
Send the link to your friends and relive primary school. playpoliceandthief.com
I built a game where you drive a danfo through Lagos 🚌
Load passengers, dodge okadas, beat the traffic. Plays in your browser, no download.

Search vague. Get specific.
Type "developer job in Nigeria," and JobBloom searches for software developer roles across Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt, then shows what it found.
Wrong guess? Switch to business developer in one tap.

We’re seeing steady growth at @cencori.
No massive launch campaign. No sudden spike in users.
People are finding us, trying the product, recommending it to other builders, and coming back to use it again.
A lot of our growth right now is happening through conversations and word of mouth.
It’s still early, and we have a lot to figure out.
But seeing people return to something we’re building is genuinely satisfying 🙏🏻

The funniest part about being called a COPYCAT is watching 13,000 people still show up
PH Lifestyle is now at 23,500 pageviews, over 6 minutes average engagement, and we’ve already gotten paying users and somehow the conversation is still , but somebody built something for Lagos first
she built something around Lagos. I built something around Port Harcourt, where I live
there’s room for both
almost every successful market has competitors. AI tools, social apps, fintech, games, and nobody owns an entire category because they were first
what matters is what you do with the idea
while people have been arguing, I’ve been getting feature requests, fixing multiplayer issues, reducing lag, removing things users don’t like and building things they actually asked for
some requests are making it in. some definitely aren’t and i have another batch of features I’m trying to ship in the next few hours
you can spend your time debating who was first but I’d rather spend mine making the better product
> back to shipping guys

As someone who lived there for two years and never used a perfume, I will say that it is not about the perfume. The Arabs use more perfume but never get this treatment. The people closing their nose reeks of garlic and turmeric btw
IT'S YOUR PERFUME.
I've seen this many times. A foreigner or in this case a black person goes to China or East Asia, and they are greeted with covered noses and mouths.
They think to themselves, I smell good, I applied perfume before leaving, why are they doing this? This must be racism.
Chinese and East Asians do not have body odor, ~95% of us carry a variant in the ABCC11 gene causing us to produce no smell after sweating.
You can't even find deodorants supermarkets in China, people just don't need it. So our sense of smell is not used to strong perfumes, and when you enter a confined space with your perfume, people literally find the smell stinging our noses.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
East Asians with the odor-reduced AA ABCC11 genotype still produce measurable amounts of the same axillary odorants — significantly less, not none. Variant frequency also varies by population: 0.904 in Han Chinese, 0.733 in Okinawa, 0.732 in Vietnamese. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC54… pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC35…
