.@POTUS’s Golden Fleet will maintain and enhance American Maritime Dominance, powered by three core principles:
1. Rebuild the Fleet: Delivering the most advanced and capable ships.
2. Revitalize Industry: Strengthening our maritime industrial base.
3. Reform Business: Changing how the Department of the Navy operates.
Under @POTUS’s plan, we will have the most tonnage under contract since WWII. The Fleet will be a high-low mix of platforms, next-generation battleships, and continued production of destroyers, carriers, amphibs, and submarines.

I have directed a new Frigate class as part of @POTUS Golden Fleet. Built on a proven American design, in American shipyards, with an American supply chain, this effort is focused on one outcome: delivering combat power to the Fleet fast.
Another big announcement from @SECNAV . Kudos to @CMC_MarineCorps who has fought for LSM for his past 3 assignments. And pay attention to @USNavyCNO remarks on producibility, maintainability, affordability … I hope this proves to be a positive model for programs going forward.
Big shipbuilding news for your holiday week:
From day one I made it clear: I won’t spend a dollar if it doesn’t strengthen readiness or our ability to win.
To keep that promise, we’re reshaping how we build and field the Fleet—working with industry to deliver warfighting advantage, beginning with a strategic shift away from the Constellation-class frigate program.
When I tell people I think private capital is ruining journalism, this is what I mean. I joined Defense News in May 2021 with a vibrant combined DN/MilTimes staff of about three dozen. They’re now down to three staff reporters. This is bad for journalism and bad for readers.
Stephen Losey here, president of the Sightline Media Union and air warfare reporter for @defense_news . As of this month, I am also the *last* reporter at Defense News.
Following @JenJudson's departure for Bloomberg, Defense News now has... 🧵 1/x

During this government shutdown, the mission of the @USNavy–@USMC team continues without pause though not without challenges and uncertainty.
I am laser-focused on managing impacts, protecting critical operations, easing burdens, and championing your needs. We will keep support and resources flowing throughout this period of uncertainty.
This is truly horrible news for the defense trade press community (both the reporters that keep it vibrant, and the wide spectrum of readers that consume and reply upon high-quality defense and military journalism).
As of this week, @Militarydotcom as we knew it is effectively dead. Talented journalists and other guild members were fired Wednesday evening, and others have been pushed out. Several who are gone are veterans. (1/4)

At the company’s Defense News Conference, the journalists of @defense_news and @MilitaryTimes stood up for their rights.
📸 @SightlineUnion members wore red, leafleted and spoke out — showing the industry that it’s time for management to stop union busting and bargain fairly!

.@Defense_News and @MilitaryTimes journalists past and present came together yesterday to stand up for our union and fight for a fair contract! We made sure people heard us and our demands.
Thanks so so much to everyone who helped out and provided moral support. #UnionStrong

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: Members of the @SightlineUnion are wearing red and leafleting outside the #DNconf this morning to tell @SightlineMedia to STOP its union busting and give us a fair contract!
🔥🔥🔥
Standing with my brothers and sisters at Defense News/MilTimes and their effort to gain the industry-standard fair pay and treatment they more than deserve. These outstanding professionals should be treated as such.
I think @SecDef just opened the door to a wave of embed requests! He says the Pentagon press corps should do more stories on how hard it is to serve in the military and conduct missions. Reporters want to tell these stories, too — OSD, please say yes when reporters ask to embed!
In fact, @Milreporters has been calling for the resumption of embeds for years. It’s time to fix this problem! militaryreporters.org/2022/0…

Today we filed the latest unfair labor practice charge against @Sightlinemedia protesting the full-time in-office mandate they just dropped. Please retweet this and tell @mortgreenberg, @kellyfacer15 and Regent to rescind this order and bargain with @SightlineUnion in good faith.

I love my country with all my heart and I've never been more embarrassed for America than the spectacle I just witnessed in the Oval Office.
Zelensky is fighting for the survival of his country, his people and their democracy.
Trump and Vance appear to be completely aligned with Putin, the invader whose aim has been to conquer Ukraine.
Zelensky should know that millions and millions of Americans still stand with him and his valiant people.
What did I just watch play out on tv…?
What just happened in the Oval Office was nothing short of remarkable. What began with questions about security guarantees for a ceasefire with Ukraine turned into an angry shouting match between Trump, Vance and Zelensky. Trump was fuming, ending with, “We have empowered you to be a tough guy…You either make a deal or we are out. You don’t have the cards.”

THE CUT THAT NEVER WAS: So the 8% annual cut that @SecDef Pete Hegseth was reportedly about to order at the Pentagon… turns out not to be a cut to defense at all. Instead, as my editor @AaronMehta wrote last night, the plan is to -reallocate- 8% of spending -within- …/1
