i've been trying to understand what ionq got when it acquired nexus photonics. nexus has been working on putting lasers and more of the equipment that directs, tunes, and checks the light onto photonic chips. that could replace some racks of separate optical equipment with chips that are smaller and easier to manufacture. oxford ionics may reduce how much light ionq needs to control a quantum computer, but computing is only one part of the story. ionq also needs precisely controlled light for networking, sensing, and communications. nexus gives ionq a way to start putting more of that light onto chips. drive.google.com/file/d/16qQ…
I disagree with Rocket Lab's decision to protest NASA's MTO decision.
In my opinion it's best to accept it and look forward to other opportunities and challenges ahead.
But I trust @Peter_J_Beck judgement on this more than my own.
