RAW image decoding has been stuck on legacy C libraries for decades.
Today I'm launching FlashRaw:
- Up to 15.4x faster than LibRaw
- Decodes formats LibRaw cannot touch
- Built in Rust, with bindings for Python, JS, and C++
The benchmarks speak for themselves:

🌀 Twistronics is a selective area of study related to the quantum properties of 2D heterostructures rotated at specific angle that enable the realization of a rich electronic behavior denominated Moiré patterns and characterized by strong Coulomb correlations.
Among the most known phenomena in this field are; superconductivity, orbital ferromagnetism, anomalous & quantized Hall effects, nematicity, the Pomeranchuk effect, as well as Chern insulators, Coopers pairs, quantum tunneling, spin liquid, and thermopower at low temperatures.
This last instance is of particular interest because of the arising of emergent local moments due to the entropic contribution of thermopower measurements in strongly correlated fermionic flat band.

I have to challenge this.
The huge “dust cloud” that was thrown up around Brexit 10 years ago (both pre- & post-) was because businesses didn’t know the destination and what the rules would be.
Joining the EU, rules are clear.
Other nations don’t have “dust clouds” on joining.

I see how some people can watch flashy robot demos on the timeline and think with a shiver that the robot apocalypse is around the corner, but reality check:
There is no robot in the world that can change the batteries in a jack-o-lantern.
If you have a robot friendly door handle it might be able to walk outside, pick it up, and carry it back inside. The robot could open the drawer with your batteries in it, but then things get tough.
Opening the package of AA batteries?
Extracting a precision screwdriver from its case?
Unscrewing four tiny screws that require a hard press and twist?
Popping batteries out of the case?
Yes, you could build and train a specialist robot to do that today, but there is a very long way to go to replace the full range of human capabilities. Near term doomer scenarios should stop at “secretly controlling humanity” instead of “wiping humanity out” 😀

Reform plan to bring back imperial measurements to help boost US trade, not realising that US imperial measurements are different from UK ones.
So dense a black hole is empty space by comparison.

Robert Banks Stewart: “BBC wanted to make a new, all-film thriller series. They'd got a bit bored with cops and there was the violence thing. To my delight I was given carte blanche to come up with a new idea. I came up with probably the oldest idea in the book: private eye. 1/

We released the code and model weights here: github.com/ayushjain1144/tra…. Have fun! 🙂
1/ We introduce TrackEverything: a 3D point tracker that tracks all points across all frames of long videos (1000+ frames).
Our key idea is to tie computation to unique 3D scene content rather than redundant 2D pixels in a video.

The fact that our latest and most ambitious Unbaffled video yet, on quantum chromodynamics and discovery of quarks and gluons, has had 0.5M views in its first 4 days confirms that there’s a real appetite for this stuff: youtu.be/fRa8gDCBTLE
Thanks for so many +ve comments too

Radio Shack would’ve made an absolute killing if they were still around today. This is the age of tinkerers, hobbyists and DIYers.
A little Micro Center meets makerspace where you can test fit a cyberdeck display or snag an RTL-SDR and the right coax adapter on a Sunday night.

Could have Édith Piaf singing on top of the Eiffel Tower with a cigarette in one hand and a decapitated head in the other and it would still somehow be less French than this photo
