Neuron classes are distinguished by expression of many genes, including those for ion channel subunits. In cortex, PV+ neurons are the major expressors of Kcng4, which encodes for the K-channel "silent" subunit Kv6.4. @SanikaGanesh led this work showing that Kv6.4 regulates

Not sure who is still out there but we're proud of this work led by @lodder_bart that (1) propose a new method to turn intensity sensors into lifetime sensors and (2) applies it to GCAMP8m to make an excellent lifetime Ca sensor.

Excited to share some of my PhD work out today in @NeuroCellPress! We use our novel lifetime photometry system with the new dLight3.8 sensor to study hunger induced changes in exploration and risk assessment derive from AgRP modulation of dopamine signaling in tail of striatum.
Our latest led by @TVKamath with important contributions by collaborators including Nao Uchida, Mitsuko Watabe-Uchida and @LinTianPhD

This is something we are very excited about. @lodder_bart led this development project collaborating with @LinTianPhD lab. The technology makes lifetime photometry easy and, with the new dopamine sensor, allows measurements of phasic and tonic DA in vivo

Hello calcium imaging twitter, I have a thread for you. We made a self-supervised network that is great at ROI classification and tracking over sessions.
If you do calcium imaging, it'll probably save you time.
Help me improve it. Send your ROI masks to: [email protected]

Thirteen months later, with lots of rewrites and a few new experiments, the conclusions are the same so please read below.
Our latest work is now on available.

Extremely comprehensive work, with lots of parallel with our recent work. Just highlights how much fine topography there is in these small nuclei, and how we should try to target the relevant functional zone when doing behavior.

Very cool. Falls under the heading of the best ideas are often obvious in retrospect.
Excited to share this cool new way of positioning many small probes in the brain from @HHMIJanelia !
To record information from the brain, neuroscientists want to place as many probes as possible on the head of a chronically implanted animal.

Mesmerizing cortical activity - we saw this earlier today (i.e. we have no clue yet what it is - aside from "probably a seizure"):

This is a question that I frequently get from students. I start by labeling: Graduate school is as much about making discoveries in science, as it is a process of discovery about self. Discovery of your working patterns, interests, etc. I advice being purposeful in both. How? 1/
What do you take under consideration when applying to a postdoctoral position? What do you look for?

Basal ganglia functional topography is maintained across output nuclei and downstream targets, report @_JaeeonLee_ @blsabatini. This enables parallel modulation of behavioral action downstream of striatal regional activation.
