From an agronomy standpoint, how about the laser pin stripes that the autonomous mowers are laying down behind the 18th green at Deerfield? Nice!!
Excited to be at Deerfield Country Club this weekend for the North vs South Junior Cup celebrating a successful year for both our Coke and Coastal Junior Tours. A huge thank you to Drew Belt, Kyle Ellis, Rory Nelson, and Alan Martel for not only their dedication to growing junior golf in Mississippi but taking the time to educate and instruct our young players this morning!
Four-Ball Matches begin this afternoon! Follow Live Scoring 🏆 golfgenius.com/pages/6264179
Excited to announce a second #collaboration in Mississippi w/ @RTJ2GolfDesign. Visited an INCREDIBLE site with @SBCharlton and the client two weeks ago. Unreal potential--the last 7 holes play along/across the water of a 1,100 acre lake with a new @Hyatt lodge to come! More soon!
Grow baby, grow!
Short game seedling growth moving right along!!!! Interesting to see difference in seed bed prep between raking in seedlings vs sandpro dimples. #golfcourselife #ouroffice
False River Golf & CC just north of Baton Rouge is growing in nicely! Great work by Sports Contractors Unlimited, FRGCC superintendent Dante Caldera, and course staff. The "new" course should be open for play in November! #golf #architecture #renovation #louisiana
This was a pretty incredible move by @spacex and a potentially revolutionary move in communication for the masses. 🤔
T-Mobile spent five years trying to get rid of the exact spectrum Elon just called "the last critical piece" of complete phone coverage in America.
This 800 MHz block is Sprint's old Nextel spectrum, the stuff that powered push-to-talk walkie-talkie phones in 2004. The DOJ forced T-Mobile to divest it as a condition of the $26 billion Sprint merger. Dish had first rights at $3.59 billion and walked away because it couldn't raise the money. T-Mobile finally offloaded it to an investment firm called Grain Management last year for $2.9 billion plus a spectrum swap.
Grain's original plan was selling it to utilities for private networks.
Fourteen months later, SpaceX buys the whole portfolio, and shares of the carriers who passed on it fall as much as 8% in a single afternoon.
Here's why it matters so much. Starlink's satellite signal at 2 GHz can reach your phone outdoors, but it dies at the first wall. 800 MHz penetrates buildings. Most phones already have the band built in. So satellites handle the open sky, this low-band layer handles indoors, and suddenly Starlink Mobile covers everywhere a normal carrier does without the tower network.
Stack the moves. $17 billion for EchoStar's 50 MHz of 2 GHz spectrum. FCC approval for 15,000 Gen2 satellites this week. Now the low-band coverage layer.
Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile paid $81 billion in a single auction for C-band spectrum in 2021, then spent years and tens of billions more deploying it on towers. SpaceX assembled a nationwide carrier out of a distressed-asset sale, a forced divestiture castoff, and rockets it already owns.
The walkie-talkie spectrum from 2004 ended up being the piece that lets satellites replace cell towers. Nobody who touched it for twenty years saw that coming.
Great to be back at Hampton Hall last week near Hilton Head to start Phase 2 of our renovation project. This time we are expanding the practice facilities to make more room for the growing membership since our 2023 course restoration of the Pete Dye signature course. Can't wait!
I get removing headrests from cars/trucks in movies and TV when people are on camera in the backseat and you don't want to block the camera's view. But why do it when the only actors are in the front seat?
I'll just leave this here for everyone's Monday to help kick off your week with some nature. Kids, am I right?
Impressive from the 19 year-old. He just dropped a dime right on the money--52 yards in the air--as casually as I fling a treat to our dog when she comes back in 😳
Fun couple of days last week in Mississippi w/ my friend @SBCharlton of @RTJ2GolfDesign, visiting clients for 2 collabs between our firms, then took a spin around @ms_refuge to see my renovation from 2018. Refuge looks great--greens are pure! More on the two collabs coming soon!
Interesting. I was actually driving down the interstate a few days ago and noticed that almost every car I saw was either white, black, grey, or somewhere in between. Very few other colors on the road these days... ⬇️

1811? Guessing they don't sell much alcohol at this @Applebees...
Arrived at @sagamore_club Monday at 11am to a chilly 58°--nearly 20° lower than when I got in the car earlier, just two hours south! @purdueturfy and crew are enjoying the temps (and fruits of their labor). Our short game complex turned out great and the baby bent is growing!
