This is so important - especially if you live in a house without books like so many children - Libraries should be ‘ringfenced and protected’, Malorie Blackman says | Libraries | The Guardian theguardian.com/books/2023/j…

Do children's books really matter? Well, they're the books that make us readers in the first place. There would be no reading at all without them. So children's literature is the cornerstone of all literature - and children's books are the MOST important books of all!

Why not take SF Said’s advice and get down to your local library 📚 @NottsLibraries and get the whole family involved in InspiREAD2023 there’s something for everyone @InspireELS inspireculture.org.uk/inspir…
A thought for half term. If kids are reading for pleasure, that will have a bigger positive impact on their life chances than any other factor - including test scores! So please keep encouraging them to read books they really want to read, just for the sheer joy of it! #literacy

YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO OLD FOR CHILDREN'S BOOKS! The books we call "children's books" are really books written for an audience that includes children, but excludes no-one. They are books for everyone – so you can read them & love them at any age at all!

Jeffrey Boakye is an incredible writer and he's pulled out all the stops for Kofi and the Rap Battle Summer. It's a story that just flows and it's absolutely superb. A huge amount of fun. Highly recommended for Y5/6. @jeffreykboakye

I will never stop saying this
Why is children's literature not considered as important as other literature? 📚
Gruffalo and Tabby McTat author Julia Donaldson tells @JustinOnWeb that despite Britain being 'famous' for children's books, she's unsure why the genre gets 'little attention'.

Why do some adults refuse to read children's books? You can never be "too old" for them. The truth is that we read books in different ways at different ages, getting different things from them each time. If you don't read children's books as an adult, you miss out on so much!
