Not sure if my English is fluent enough to express this clearly, but... Often, transphobes' problem is not that they have strict criteria for what counts as one gender or another. It's that they don't want the people they find annoying to have a say over their own gender.

I’m sorry you’ll resign but I was in a mixed sex emergency ward with my mother as she had no where to go and tbh I was more concerned about the trans person there because of how my mother would have reacted than for them.I stayed there to make sure all was ok. Think of everyone!
