It is very funny watching the separatist movement which has so drastically transformed Alberta’s reputation across the continent end up less popular than the Harris-Walz ticket in Wyoming
A new poll by Canada Pulse Insights found that 85% of respondents in both Calgary and Edmonton want Alberta to remain part of Canada ahead of the October 19 referendum.
The survey found that just 15% in each city support beginning the legal process that could eventually lead to a separation referendum.
Among respondents who said they would definitely vote, support for remaining in Canada stood at 85% in Calgary and 83% in Edmonton.
The poll was conducted for CityNews and had a reported margin of error of 5 percentage points. Its findings reflect the two cities, not Alberta as a whole.
With Calgary receiving its first snowfall of the season I thought it’d be appropriate to spend the weekend in the mountains. My favourite place on Earth. Hopefully Jasper next!!! <3
Biggest pet peeve is people who genuinely suggest that British Columbia is an ultraprogressive socialist utopia whereas Alberta is Texas Jr.
There is way more nuance involved than what I can fit or even want to write in a Twitter thread but BC is poised to turn conservative for the first time in decades in two weeks and the CPBC is more socially right-wing than the UCP (Alberta Conservatives) by most metrics
