A footnote from Stephen Dolan's Algebraic Subtyping, in reference to a paper by Redko: "This paper is out of print, in Russian, and quite difficult to get a hold of, so the interested reader is directed to a shorter proof by Conway [Con71, p. 105], which is merely out of print."
ok new week new topic. what’s everyone’s favorite joke ever made in a PL publication? I think mine is this one (from “The Myths of Object-Orientation” by James Noble)

be careful what you say or you’re going in the thread too
tfw u make a stupid fucking tweet that goes from utter nonsense to run of the mill slop if ur feeling charitable

ALT Tweet screenshot that reads: No, it isn't. What a stupid fucking tweet. If we're feeling charitable, and take "TypeScript" to mean "TypeScript's type system", then it goes from utter nonsense to run of the mill slop which may obviously be made to hold for a sufficiently retarded definition of "best".

Like this tweet if you would listen to the @lexi_lambda / @sliminality podcast where we just shoot the shit about PL, software, and other technical esoterica as strikes our fancy
Reply if you would volunteer to edit an episode >:)

fwiw I think you have a typo: each 𝑗 in the premises has no subscript, but in each consequent it’s 𝑗₁
are you implying you harbor doubts about the design handed down to us by the wise council of ISO/IEC JTC 1 (Joint Technical Committee 1) / SC 32 (Subcommittee 32) / WG 3 (Working Group 3)

one really good way to understand this phenomenon better is to spend a lot of time researching the behavior of crank researchers: many of them have very little experience, so they don’t understand the content of insightful research, and they simply imitate its affects
