Happy to see that The Collected Cloak is finally out! All of Mike Higgs' brilliantly barmy strips in one book. Spies! Monsters! Mad robots and more! Intro by Alan Moore! Those who pre-ordered this massive limited edition should be able to pick it up from their comic shop now.

Coronation Street is now basically Camberwick Green for adults, with everyone working in the street they live in but with more serial killers and psychopaths.

Ukraine has hit a Russian data centre linked to bot farms. In other news, every Reform account is getting a lot fewer likes and shares than usual.

Sadie Miller's forthright opinion about those AI videos that use generated voice and imagery of her late mother Lis Sladen. She's absolutely right!

A televised execution by firing squad is not a deterrent. It gives the criminal an importance that many of them crave. For the viewers it desensitises and normalises execution as TV entertainment. Once that line is crossed how much further can America descend into hell?

Fascinating stuff for fans of The Prisoner. In the broadcast version, Number Six isn't pushed to the ground and the end credit music is different of course. They made the right decision not to use this edit.
Stephen La Rivière@la_riviereOct 1
As part of my research into alternative edits, I wanted to examine the original 1st ep of The Prisoner. Thanks to @unmutualwebsite I have had access to one of two surviving prints, which yielded some promising information. We also made a 4K preservation scan at the same time.

Don’t you just love those sanctimonious, well-heeled types who believe everyone can ‘make prudent financial plans for retirement’? Do they understand that many people can’t keep up with their bills, let alone save?

Both The Prisoner and Captain Scarlet debuted on this day in 1967 here in the ATV region. I was 8 years old and it was an exciting time because both shows were brilliant! Think I'll have a rewatch tonight.
