We recently started working on Parcel v3! We’re migrating the core to Rust, and already seeing some huge performance improvements.
But I want to go beyond just perf. What else should we improve? If you had one wish for any web build tool, Parcel or not, what would it be?

My team shipped the most difficult (and longest) project of my career in the last few weeks. We migrated the frontend bundler for Jira (5M+ src lines) from Webpack to @parceljs, and customers (mostly) didn’t notice.

Excited to announce that Parcel CSS is now Lightning CSS! ⚡️
This new name makes it clear that it can be used outside Parcel, with other build tools or standalone.
Had way too much fun designing the new website too! 😜 lightningcss.dev

Whoa! Now do JSX. 😉
Could we have TypeScript with no build step? Could we have types in JavaScript? Maybe!
We're exploring bringing optional type syntax into the JavaScript language!

If this crazy drawing actually looks like a fun to you, my team is looking to grow this year! We just work on Parcel all the time, it's pretty cool. (No Job posting ATM, but DMs are open if you wanna know more...)
Excited to finally ship the graph implementation that @lettertwo and team worked on!
Some serious engineering went into this. It's a custom data structure backed by SharedArrayBuffer with similar perf to native v8 hash maps but with no serialization cost to send between threads!

Did you know: Parcel supports Web Workers, Service Workers, and even Worklets out of the box? There’s no special syntax to learn – just use the native web APIs, and Parcel will automatically follow the dependency and bundle the worker appropriately!

Here’s a unique opportunity to get paid to work on @parceljs as a Senior Engineer on @Atlassian’s front-end bundler team. The team is currently US based, but we’ve opened up the role to folks in Australia/NZ as well. Everyone is remote.
DMs open for Qs!

Spent some time writing up a public roadmap for Parcel. It's intended to give the community a sense of where we're heading, give us feedback, and help contributors figure out where to start.
So much exciting stuff coming up! Let's make it happen. 🤩
