two years ago, when we were designing based rollups/apps over kaspa with canonical bridging etc, did we have this privacy use case in mind? at least for me, no. (see posts here: research.kas.pa/t/on-the-des… research.kas.pa/t/l1-l2-cano… brainstormed with @dimdumon, @hashdag and @VolokhIlia) seeing these ideas now being explored for privacy is a reminder of why infrastructure work needs to be sound, diligent and forward thinking. you can’t anticipate every application, but thinking carefully about the foundations can make room for things you hadn’t specifically imagined. eg with the canonical bridge, the core idea is a pool of resources whose internal distribution is managed by the L2 app state and opaque to L1. this seems to map cleanly to the proposed privacy architecture, with an additional layer where each user’s private state is hidden from everyone else and the app itself verifies user proofs as part of its execution/proving (worth mentioning that these user proofs need not be directly compatible with L1 zk opcodes, only the outer app proof needs to be) same goes for kip21 and proving work proportional to app activity, which seems rather useful and important here as well. one more thing i wanted to add here (and we discussed), @WellerOlaf: the based component not only provides censorship resistance but also gives in-app confirmation times driven by L1 frequency and not proof frequency. once an operation is ordered and its execution locally validated, every possible prover is bound to that outcome. no valid proof can advance past it while skipping or changing it
Had a really interesting conversation with Kaspa core developer @michaelsuttonil about the Kaspa Privacy Initiative today. We discussed our candidate architecture for a scalable shielded native KAS protocol, using covenants, ZK proofs, permissionless relayers and batchers. One of the biggest takeaways was how much of the infrastructure we're looking for may already be available through Kaspa's Based Apps and KIP-21. In our original design, one of the challenges was ensuring that batchers couldn't selectively omit user operations while claiming to have processed a complete batch. With Based Apps, user operations can be ordered directly on Kaspa L1 in an application-specific lane. KIP-21 provides cryptographic sequencing commitments, allowing a properly designed settlement proof to demonstrate that the relevant operations were processed correctly. That could remove a substantial amount of custom infrastructure we'd otherwise have to build ourselves. We also discussed canonical bridges, recursive proving and why sharding may introduce unnecessary complexity at this stage. Our next step is a small Based App feasibility PoC on TN10. We'll test lane ordering, execution, proof-based settlement, deliberate transaction omission and independent reconstruction before adding the actual shielded privacy logic. No architecture has been finalized. The goal remains to find the safest, most scalable and most decentralized solution, not to defend an earlier design. Really appreciate Michael taking the time to share his insights. Conversations like these are incredibly valuable. Technical feedback, criticism and contributions are very welcome! github.com/olafweller/kaspa-…

Among all the things happening in the $KAS Kaspa space and markets, we have to absolutely talk about where the real growth comes from. From 29nd September, today, to 1st October included, we have the biggest annual conference uniting Energy and Industry sector with Web 3.0 which is the @DiiDesertEnergy annual summit. Let's talk about what is in front of #KAS Kaspa: 1. Apart from Warpcore being one of the most popular project of @KaspaKii, we have ZET-EX which is the first decentralized exchange allowing energy and carbon credits trading in real time. 2. Let's expand this further with project KII Works which aims to provide the infrastructure for identity of all assets being traded - certifications, trading documents, product passports, etc. 3. Leverage that by the speed of Vprogs with ZK proofs validation on the L1 and off-chain computation. 4. Leverage that further with DagKnight which will ensure all of this runs at real-time internet speed. 5. And as last layer, let's add to the cooking mix the whole list of DII partners which will be on the priority list for joining this infrastructure - companies with combined market cap in the trillions of dollars. This seems like a textbook recipe for success and by sticking together, educating our communities and working hard to develop new use cases, I am confident that $KAS Kaspa will achieve disruption while price will be only a lagging indicator behind which will appear there as a cherry on top of the cake. There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come! Study $KAS Kaspa!

Kaspa's EVM layers passed a full stress test at 200x cheaper than Ethereum Independent testing put Kasplex and Igra through 66 operations covering token transfers, DEX swaps, lending, and NFT minting. Both scored a 100% success rate with execution identical to Ethereum Sepolia. Transaction costs came in over 200 times cheaper than Ethereum mainnet, all settling on proof-of-work. Post-Toccata, the $KAS ecosystem has a working EVM stack.

Dear EU, dear Chat Control friends… You haven’t even finished your surveillance obsession yet, and you’re already pushing for more? While you’re still tinkering away, maybe it’s time for a real solution: @KaChat_ - decentralized, on Kaspa, end-to-end encrypted, no backdoor, no central company that can be forced to comply. Personally, I don’t want to end up in the world of “1984.” Above all, I don’t want companies rummaging around in my world and extracting data without any legitimate grounds. I wish I could use @KaChat_ Europe. We always end up paying one way or another - whether with personal data or with kaspa:native . My choice is very clear. I need sovereignty - decentralized, secure, and fast
Today is a dark day for freedom and democracy in Europe. General chat surveillance has been implemented in Brussels. A disgrace. The so-called Chat Control 1.0 cleared a crucial hurdle in the European Parliament today. This means platforms may once again be allowed to scan private messages, officially on a “voluntary” basis, but in practice this marks the return of indiscriminate monitoring of private communication. What makes this especially bitter is that a majority of the MEPs who voted were reportedly against it. According to Patrick Breyer, 314 MEPs voted against the regulation, 276 voted in favor and 17 abstained. And yet the rejection failed because it was not enough to have a simple majority of those voting. An absolute majority of all MEPs would have been required. That is the democratic scandal. When a majority of those present votes against a proposal and it still passes because a formal threshold is not reached, it does not feel like democratic decision-making to many citizens. It feels like a procedural trick. And it becomes even more problematic when you look at the context: Chat Control had already been rejected before. Yet the issue was put back on the agenda shortly before the summer break, through an urgent procedure, at a time when absences could become decisive. This is not just some technical regulation. It goes to the very core of private communication. It is about whether digital messages remain fundamentally private or whether platforms may systematically scan content again, without concrete suspicion, without a court order and without any individual cause. A free society must not turn private communication into a potential surveillance zone. Anyone who takes digital fundamental rights seriously cannot accept millions of innocent people being placed under general suspicion. Today, a dangerous signal was sent: fundamental rights can be hollowed out through procedural logic, timing and political tricks. Not through an open, clear and honest majority, but through a system in which absence effectively helps the supporters. This is a dark day for Europe. Not because the fight is over, but because today showed how easily digital fundamental rights come under pressure when surveillance logic, symbolic politics and institutional tricks come together. Anyone who wants a free internet, anyone who wants to protect private communication and anyone who takes democracy seriously should talk about this. Share this issue. Inform yourself. Look at who voted how. And never forget: freedom rarely disappears all at once. It disappears step by step, often in technical details, often in complicated procedures and often exactly when too few people are watching.

Even though we know Kaspa is sexy infrastructure, the everyday person won’t understand why but.. If businesses build on Kaspa to meet the wants and needs of the everyday person then Kaspa gets massive adoption as a proxy. If you know a business that’s already operating and could benefit switching to Kaspa or you know some clever Devs or startups that would understand Kaspa’s sexiness then reach out to them to build on Kaspa! $KAS

3 days ago @kaspaunchained shipped Toccata and $KAS became programmable. Problem: nobody can actually see it. Nodes don't expose covenants, explorers just show you a hash, and history gets pruned after 3 days. So I built kascov, a smart coin explorer for Kaspa 🔭👇

Wow this is amazing. I just joined. Have you?
I spun up Kas-Smiths, a space for Kaspa ecosystem coordination. Ethereum-Magicians is the website for that on Ethereum. We build with Silver, on top of proof-of-work. This feels very physical to me, so I see us more as hardworking smiths. Kas-Smiths is meant to be the workshop where we gather to forge standards and protocols on top of Kaspa, supporting the development of tools, wallets, and applications. I posted the first thread there, a draft of fungible-token-covenant specification, continuing the discussion from the R&D TG group. I invite everyone to join, discuss, ask questions, criticize, and help shape the metals.

Have to admit I've been busy recently and not paid attention to all the incredible KASPA DAG technical advances driving it a form that should make it even more attractive from a commercial adoption perspective When I first started getting involve in crypto the first thing I personally experienced was the panic about using a strange new technology- a digital wallet- that made it possible to send and LOSE big sums of money very quickly so IMO one of the biggest barriers to crypto adoption has never been speed—it's consumer protection.... with BTC, an accidental payment or a dishonest seller can leave you with no practical recourse once funds are sent, and I've seen that happen with more than one colleague Kaspa's new Toccata upgrade introduces native L1 covenant programming, enabling "peer-to-peer oriented applications" and "complex stateful multi-contract flows" directly on Layer 1. More critically, it also lays the foundation for smart wallets, escrow, and programmable payment conditions. IMO the crypto opportunity is huge for consumer-safe cash and reversible commerce, topics and concepts that BTC maxxis pooh-pooh at even as they are the most important aspects of mass adoption. Some easy examples: you buy something on eBay; Your $KAS payment is locked in a covenant. The seller gets paid after delivery is confirmed, or the funds automatically return to the buyer if the transaction times out Wallet protection: Large balances are protected by spending rules (time delays, recovery paths, or multi-party approval), reducing the damage from a stolen private key or worse, a wrench attack. This preserves self-custody while adding protections consumers have come to expect from traditional payment systems—without relying on a bank. For more on Toccata: docs.kaspa.org/toccata It really feels that these new tools provide KASPA a huge advantage over the competition, and illustrates perfectly the advantage of a flexible network and solid LIVING collaborative technical team.

“People who make up stuff about other people…” I reactivated my premium as i spent way too much time in $kas for some frustrated people to shit on it every few days. The crying baby dressed in a grown up man clothes talks about “make stuff about other people”. The same guy that talks shit about everything and everyone that doesn’t agree with his povs. Then blocks them. I m no longer with KEF or Kasplex for a few months now but I never ever ever seen bad conduct or bad intent from them. But when you sit in your couch you can write imaginary and random stuff about other people. Then come around and say “bullyyyyy” “i am bulliiieeeed” but when he bullies everyone else this is fine in his mind. So I always said i’ll never engage with this character but I cannot stand his “i know things but i’m dripping them slowly”. Or IGRA is decentralized, fully open source, the best to go and then, when the something happens we have “i m out of crypto” and “i don’t care about kaspa” yet the miracle happens every few days to remind us how bad YS, MS and others are. We have a saying: “when more than 2 people tell you that you are drunk.. you need to go to bed and sleep”. Sleep tight Shai.

Is it just my imagination, or are there really more organized bashing accounts out there? They come in groups, and their usernames all include "KAS." I always thought that if something didn't interest me, I'd just scroll past it—what are they trying to protect? kaspa:native

Parfait combo !
