This is truly a historic moment. President Trump has indefinitely suspended sanctions against Russia that would have been required in the Graham law. He went against the last request of Lindsey Graham, whom he called his friend. And he handed Putin the opportunity to finance the war against Ukrainians, who are fighting for their freedom.
Trump calls this a "national interest." But diesel prices went up because of his war against Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. So waiving sanctions on Russia does not solve that problem. Instead, it creates another one.
Putin cannot win on the battlefield, so he attacks civilians. Russian missiles and drones are destroying homes, hospitals, schools, and churches. According to the UN, just two weeks of October have been among the deadliest for civilians in Ukraine in recent years.
Forty percent of Russia's budget goes to the war. After Trump's latest decisions, Russia will make record profits. The formula is simple: "Money turns into missiles. Missiles turn into civilian deaths."
Trump is not stopping Russia's war against Ukraine. Trump is helping Putin win it.
As a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, I want to address the people of America, regardless of their political views.
Do you really believe that the killing of millions of people and the loss of Ukraine's independence are in your national interest?
If not, what will you do to stop America from financing the genocide that Putin is waging against Ukrainians with Trump's support?

Sanctions relief will continue. I think the diesel deal and the move regarding the Lindsey Graham Act are not the end of it. Unfortunately.
It’s unfortunate because we all had great respect for Lindsey. He devoted his life to America. We had an excellent relationship with him. And shortly before the tragedy, Lindsey was in Ukraine. He always supported us very strongly and pushed for as much assistance to Ukraine as possible.
It’s difficult without him, I’ll be honest. I want to thank both Democrats and Republicans who supported his bill. That was a major victory: this truly bipartisan support. And now, the decision to undo all of this, to block all of it, seems wrong to me. And it definitely helps only the Russians. It only fuels their satisfaction and their desire to keep killing people. This certainly does not stop the war.

Consider Trump’s actions on Ukraine in the last month and how they reveal his priorities:
- Kushner and Witkoff discuss energy deals while in Moscow on peace mission
- US threatens to suspend intel sharing if Ukraine strikes Russian energy
- Starlink slows speeds, damaging Ukraine’s air defense
- Ukrainians suspect U.S. also withheld ballistic missile early warning
- Trump gives Russia waivers on Graham Bill sanctions
All while Russia expands attacks on Ukrainian energy and civilian targets.
This is US Ukraine policy: Pressure on Ukraine, relief for Russia, focus on energy deals, both before and after the midterms.

So, MAGA, let me make sure I understand the strategy.
Canada is the enemy. Europe is the enemy. Japan is the enemy. South Korea is the enemy. Australia and New Zealand are the enemy.
Russia is the friend.
You want to trade the richest, most technologically advanced alliance network on Earth, representing tens of trillions of dollars in economic power, for Russia.
You are trading a fleet of aircraft carriers for a rowboat.
You are trading North America, Europe and the advanced democracies of Asia-Pacific for Russia.
You are trading an economic and military network spanning three continents for one country with an economy comparable to a single small European state.
And this is supposed to make America stronger?
That is a big downgrade. But it is who you are.

BREAKING: Volodymyr Zelenskyy tells @piersmorgan he has been betrayed by Trump, that Elon Musk and the US deliberately cut off Starlink and people are being killed as a result
“This is not the right side of history,” he says. “It is a pity that we are losing a strong partner”
On Musk and Starlink he says: “This decision will bring a lot of human losses. Of course, people will die”
“I am sure they knew what they
did, absolutely. Because it was 1am at night, Starlink was blocked by SpaceX and the United States”
“It’s not just about attack. It’s also about defending life. So people were killed because, not enough destroying, not enough
interceptors, including interceptors with Starlink, which didn't work. Of
course.”
Asked if he’s angry with Musk, Zelenskyy says: “Yes, I think he is not right. It's a big mistake.”

Musk says any decision to restrict Starlink / Starshield for Ukraine was made by Trump. Doesn’t deny it happened

The mood in Ukraine is grim today. There's frustration and outrage here in Kyiv towards the Trump administration over what Ukraine's government, the troops and society believe is a deliberate attempt on the part of Washington to force Ukraine to capitulate to Russia – by withholding intelligence that allows early warning when Russian missiles are incoming, and cutting off Starlink to the military which needs it to strike and for defence against jet drones. These decisions cut intel sharing and restrict Starlink cost lives; at least 5 people killed in Kyiv, 6 more in Lutsk, dozens others badly injured.
NEW: Ukrainian troops have been caught off guard by restrictions on Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet systems that disrupted frontline operations, as Kyiv received no advance warning from its partners of a Russian missile attack on its energy facilities for the second day running, Ukrainian officials and troops tell @FT.

In Afghanistan, 2012, US Marine Lance Corporal Winder Perez took an RPG that punched through his thigh and stayed there, live, instead of detonating.
An Army MEDEVAC crew that had been told they were picking up an injured child landed, saw the round still stuck in him, and voted to fly him anyway, even though hauling unexploded ordnance is against the rules.
They made the careful run to FOB Edinburgh, where the rest of the base was held back and Navy Lt. Cmdr. James Gennari kept Perez breathing while Army EOD Staff Sgt. Ben Summerfield pulled the rocket free. Perez stayed conscious through it.
When Perez was told what was in his leg, he said “Cool.” He survived.
