I’ll be forever obsessed with adding to my list of “selfish reasons to be a growing person.” It’s like a break glass option for me - at some point in the future, I may lose intrinsic motivation. And then, I can break glass, get the rational reason for “interact with others in loving kindness” and then just be kind. I say this half tongue-in-cheek, and I LOVE my list!!!

Reason #597 to be a good person: You know that there are good people in this world, and you can ask for their help. Because you give easily, you know that asking for something doesn’t cost much! @noa_tate_ this reminds me of your post about you being both a helper and helpee!
Today, I needed help. And, because I know that I’d stop to help other people, I felt comfortable asking the universe and its great people for this help. And I received it. Within 1 minute of standing on NYC streets, an Orthodox Jewish man stopped his car, leaving his family waiting, so that he could help me. Of course I felt awkward standing there so desperately, so much so that I called someone for moral support during this process. But within a minute, I needed to hang up!

This one:
mr. rogers said you could always find people helping. this implies there's always people who could use some help. anyway, i'm both. hope you are too 🩷

"Dad," she said, "I found my billion-dollar idea." "Cool," I said. "Something you can grow into a billion dollars?" "No. Something I wouldn't sell for a billion dollars."

I never know what about myself will be the thing for the other person. It may be the gift I give them. It may be my personality. It may also just be my address. Being with other people is a good thing. And, if you are open, everyone can give you something. When in doubt, go be with people!

Today I made myself another flag 🏳️ - when I look back at this moment and feel regret or upset, I can remind myself that I did the best I could for preparation. And the universe, and other people, have their own uncontrollable factors. The way I am able to abundantly, clearly and holistically see this now, is the way I’ll also have to sit with my emotions later. This flag is here to remind me: 1. I did the best I could without going crazy. And in the moment, I’m choosing not to go crazy. And even if I let myself go crazy, I don’t know what else would actually help. 2. There’s other humans involved, and that makes things more beautiful (i.e. messier) - I don’t have control over this! And, this project is, ironically, to capture the humanity. 3. There are times I’m able to step back and see things bigger picture/abundantly/multi-dimensionally/🪩 In the future, when I’m stuck, I can trust that there will be a time when I’ll get back to this, and hold hope that my emotions will feel less strong and I’ll see beauty again. 4. I have a lot of love. This is a labor of love. Not perfection. It’s to remind me of the love that exists. Not to replace the love that is.

More evidence of the incredible abundance in this world. That this man has such a lifestyle, that this guy has this job and that this job exists!
This reminds me of the greatest job I've ever heard of. On a long-haul flight, I sat next to a woman who ran the advance team for a billionaire she wouldn't name. Her job was to fly in two or three days ahead of him. Favorite foods, flowers, clothes, drivers, staff. Everything exactly how he liked it. Half the time, his plans changed and he never showed. So she'd stay a few days at the resort and fly to the next one. She was the just-in-case. Her whole job was living like a billionaire, waiting for a billionaire who wasn't coming.

Fourth day of being home sick (with Covid, likely.) Here’s what’s on my mind: 1. As always, I got mad at myself for wasting these days. But a reframe is that I get to do absolutely nothing and that is healing. 🤯 2. TV show suggested for me worked through season 1.5. And I kept pushing a few more episodes before I quit. Glad I quit. In the future, I give me permission to quit earlier. 3. I had dinner with a friend (in a spacious space) every night. Glad I did that. 4. This Is Us has taught me a lot when I was growing up and I’m glad I rewatched S3E18 - about relationships and life desires.

Would you rather be the head of a fish or the tail of a lion? (I think a noble exception is to stay connected to family, who, may very likely stay as they were, and as you were before you grew upward)
If you find yourself being much more spiritually advanced than others in your surroundings (say, where you grew up), this might be less because you're a fast learner... and more because you're repeating the grade.

Gosh. I just realized that I’m not always alerted at replies to my comments. Wow what a disconnect!

Seen in NYC today: 2 people, standing in the middle of the street, during their red light, refilling their cups of Apple Jacks cereal and milk. The cars just drove around them. I ❤️ this city. We do what we gotta do, whenever we gotta do it. We eat cereal and we drive around the cereal eaters.

“You don’t need to end all your statements with a question for the other person. You’re worthy of making a statement and having it be heard, without need to involve, include, expand the conversation to invite the other.”

Wise conversation with my 100 year old Mentor: She kept repeating “there is nothing we can do — the world follows the order of nature.” She’s been saying this for many years. She is my teacher in accepting things as they come, and not to fight what is natural. Sitting with her is light and easy. The air is clear. There are no regrets, only tears. And when I am sitting next to her, I’m not fighting. These are bittersweet tears of acceptance - for her life well lived and a recognition of nature’s next steps for her.

Fascinating Conversation with a Woman at the Bar! She helped me remember that there are places with the people I am looking for. I live in a place of abundance. My kind of person exists. And there are many of them people! It was so obvious how abundant this world is when talking to her! It was fascinating because: 1. I feel motivated But mainly: 2. She so easily saw it 3. She so smoothly helped me see it It’s fascinating because her mindset is so clear. And true. And expressed with such ease that I almost started wondering why am I struggling with this? Next time I feel scarce, I hope to read this. But also, the fascinating part is that it takes listening to someone so confidently abundantly so take that in. Abundance is abundant!

And the irony of all this is that I might even meet my person at the bar 😊

And tonight, my first dance with was someone who pushed/pulled me a bit much stronger than I liked and it seemed like he was more focused on showing off his moves than on leading a mutually enjoyable experience. This will be my first/last dance with you! open.spotify.com/track/2tE28…
I had the most magical dance last night. It was with a man who was in town briefly, for climate work. My body intuitively knew how to move and I had fun! After our second dance together, he packed his stuff, took his girlfriend’s hand and walked into the night. I recognized that this was an experience that won’t ever happen exactly the same way. So I took a moment to just appreciate the beauty and sadness. I had a wonderful experience. I felt alive. And the source of this was moving on, never to be experienced exactly the same. I sat with the sadness of this, and the joy that came with the knowledge that part of what made it beautiful (me!) gets to stay with me always. I left feeling grateful. For the fun I had, for my joyful spirit and for the reminder that good chemistry exists, even if it’s not in every single dance.
