For five months, a Russian lieutenant secretly helped Ukraine kill his own comrades by sending it the locations of his brigade, WSJ. More than 300 Russian soldiers died, including a brigade commander. He took no money, then walked across a minefield to Ukraine. 1/

Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone." He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population." He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory." "They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this." He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

We don’t use Starlink for our responses inside Russia. We use Starlink to intercept jet-powered “shaheds” that attack our civilians and kill families. Starlink wasn’t turned off – its speed was reduced. And when the speed was reduced, we were unable to intercept a certain number of jet-powered “shaheds.” We couldn’t use a tool that helps protect people. That’s very painful and frustrating. We also use Starlink for mid-range strikes against enemy military targets in our temporarily occupied territories. We couldn’t do that when the restrictions were in place. And third, what matters most is people. Our warriors, who spend weeks and months on the front line, receive food and water delivered by drones using Starlink. Has the speed been fully restored to what it was before? No. Is it being restored now? Yes. From a conversation with media representatives in Brussels. (2/3)

Putin wants to destroy us. He doesn't respect us, our sovereignty and territorial integrity. He really thinks that we are not a country, not a nation. Do you really believe that just the eastern part of our country will be enough for him? Then why did he go for Kyiv when the full-scale invasion began? Is that Donbas? No, it’s the capital. Without the capital, there is no state. And what will happen afterwards? On what borders will he stay? If now he's testing all these drones against European, even NATO countries? They are not loud for now. They don't want to escalate because they have one Russian drone, two drones, ten. But you will be very loud when there will be ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and thousands of drones. We had one thousand drones yesterday. But the American side said that it's difficult to speak with Zelenskyy. It's less difficult to manage with Putin. Of course. From a conversation with media representatives in Brussels. (3/3)

A horrific Russian jet-powered “shahed” attack on an ordinary store in the Odesa region. Russia continues its bloody terror. The store was partially destroyed, and cars were damaged. Three people were injured. All necessary emergency services are working at the scene and providing assistance to those affected. It is important that our partners help us defend against this. Residential buildings, stores, energy and other critical infrastructure are under attack virtually nonstop. Not a single hour of peace. What is happening is Russia’s pointed response to the signals it is receiving from America. Unfortunately, there are dangerous signals about the possibility of further sanctions relief. These sanctions were imposed by the world, by America, Europe, and our partners in response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its war against us. Nothing has changed. The war has not stopped. The sanctions must not be lifted. Russia must end the slaughter it itself started and has continued for 1,695 days now. More money to fund the killing will not help bring this about. Strength is what is needed, and America is stronger than Russian terror.

Since last evening and up to now, the Russians have attacked Ukraine with more than a hundred different weapons – jet-powered drones, loitering munitions, and ballistic missiles. A significant portion of these strike assets were shot down. But unfortunately, not all of them. An ordinary residential building was destroyed in Kharkiv; the rescue operation continued virtually all night as first responders searched for people under the rubble. Four people were killed in this strike on the building in Kharkiv. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. In Kharkiv alone, 41 people were injured in just one evening. There was also a particularly vile ballistic missile strike on Kyiv – five missiles that hit civilian infrastructure. Unfortunately, we received no early warning from our partners about this strike. Intelligence on Russian ballistic missile launches helps save lives, and this is one of the most critical issues. This is precisely what helps prevent people from being killed – when there is an early warning about ballistic missiles. Ukraine has not carried out strikes on Russian oil refineries or the energy sector in general for the two days since the American President announced an energy ceasefire. But Russia did not heed the American President. During this time, the Russians have attacked both our energy facilities and our critical infrastructure, sending absolutely clear signals that they have no intention of refraining from strikes on Ukraine. Nineteen regions of our country have come under attack in these two days alone. Our position remains unchanged: Ukraine is ready for reciprocal steps toward de-escalation, and effective pressure on Russia is needed to make de-escalation happen. Wars end when the aggressor realizes that it cannot prolong the war. Global pressure on Russia contributes to exactly that – bringing peace closer. But direct or indirect support for Russia, slowing down assistance to Ukraine, and making it harder to protect lives against ballistic missiles will certainly not help bring peace. Everyone needs peace. A strong America, a strong Europe, and strong partners are needed. Thank you to everyone who is truly helping!

We never communicate what we will do next in our operations. Last night, we did not attack any energy facilities on the territory of Russia because President Trump said that there would be an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia. We did not attack, while Russia attacked our gas stations, energy infrastructure, and other facilities. I think it was Putin’s answer to President Trump. And the message from Russia was very clear – they don't know anything about the energy ceasefire. It's a pity, because they always find reasons not to stop this war. Which is why I think we need more pressure on Russia. From an interview with Fox News.

Today, Russia expressed its thanks for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five glide bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia. As of now, sadly, twelve people have been confirmed killed, including three children. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Another fourteen people have been injured, and two of them are in critical condition – the doctors are fighting to save their lives. The status of twelve more people who may have been there is still being verified. All emergency services are at the scene, and search-and-rescue operations are underway. Overnight, thirteen of our regions came under attack. Residential buildings, infrastructure, and railway facilities have been damaged. Last night confirmed once again that in Russia, they take any easing of pressure to mean they can keep fighting, to mean they can keep dropping bombs on cities. Different signals are needed. Russia must understand that it needs to stop the war, and for that to happen, Russia must feel its losses. Right now, it is our long-range capabilities that are ensuring this. And we will respond to Russian strikes. I thank everyone who is helping.

What allowing Russia to sell oil products means was heard most clearly in Kyiv just now, when, after repeated attacks on energy facilities with jet-powered “shaheds,” Russia launched a ballistic missile attack as well. Some of the missiles were intercepted. This once again clearly demonstrates Russia’s true intentions. They count on prolonging the war, terrorizing ordinary people, and destroying infrastructure. Every additional billion dollars they can earn from exports will be spent on nothing but sourcing and importing critical components and equipment to manufacture weapons, upgrading “shaheds,” producing missiles, and recruiting even more mercenaries to fight at the front. Russia’s choice is war. And they will be ready to end it only when they feel that their ability to drag the war out is diminishing. Unfortunately, the signals Russia received yesterday were entirely different – signals suggesting that it could simply keep attacking. And this needs to be corrected. Strong signals are needed from the United States, Europe, and other partners – signals in support of Ukraine and to RESTRICT Russia’s ability to wage war and terrorize people. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine!

Overall, 25 people were killed in this massive Russian strike on Ukraine. One hundred people were injured. It was a combined attack, involving many ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as “shaheds.” This is the kind of “gift” Putin gave himself for his birthday. Ukrainian warriors shot down 44 missiles – both cruise and ballistic. Not all of those launched by Russia, and ballistic missiles are especially difficult to deal with. We suppressed 117 “shaheds” – most of those launched, but unfortunately, not all of them either. Additional packages of air defense missiles are needed, as are additional measures to support Ukraine. And there will be appropriate packages. The threat is there every day, and every day, our air defense batteries need to have missiles ready. We strongly count on prompt deliveries from our partners.

Kimberly Guilfoyle was preparing for her congressional hearing to become U.S. ambassador to Greece when she reached out to a Trump donor with an urgent request: She needed $100,000 that she said she owed American Express—in a way that wouldn’t leave a paper trail. “It won’t show up anywhere if you wire money to American Express,” she wrote on Signal, according to messages reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. “Please.” w/@DanaMattioli @drewhinshaw @JoeWSJ wsj.com/politics/policy/guil…

Today, we thank all our educators – school and preschool teachers, lecturers, and all education workers – for your work and care. I thank everyone who teaches our children and supports them every day during this difficult time. The fifth year of the full-scale war. Constant air raid alerts, classes in shelters, online lessons. And now, as Russia once again intensifies its terror and strikes schools and universities, you continue to do your work. I am grateful to all our educators who remain a source of support for our children at a time like this, continue to teach them and be there for them. Every day, this is a major contribution to Ukraine’s future. Happy Education Workers’ Day! Thank you to each and every one of you for everything you do.

This is a key point about the fake history of NATO supposedly agreeing not to expand to Russia’s borders (forgetting Norway & Alaska already exist). People who pedal the myth have to mix up the timeline, otherwise they are imagining that the Soviet Union was negotiating on behalf of post-Soviet Russia at a time when the Soviet Union did not know there was going to be a post-Soviet Russia. Also hilarious is the fact that these same people claim the Baltic countries were part of the Soviet Union, which means this supposed agreement that they forgot to write down would have been made to us anyway so we could cancel that… if it existed. In reality, Russia made numerous real agreements to respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of its neighbours and the right of all countries to decide their own security alliances, which is the foundation of international law and the UN Charter. Fortunately, people remembered to write all those ones down.
Replying to @Baltic_Takes
A small pearl in this giant heap of trash is that Carlson thinks the fake "promise" on NATO (1990) was AFTER Budapest memorandum (1994). There are 2 ways a Western pundit can express russian PoV: being dumb as fuck, and being paid by russia. Impressively, Carlson is both.

77 kilograms. That is how much one Ukrainian prisoner of war lost in just five months of Russian captivity. 11 torture chambers. That is what Russia managed to establish in and around Kherson in less than nine months of occupation. The first figure illustrates the brutality of Russia’s illegal detention of Ukrainians. The second reveals the systematic nature of Russia’s horrific crimes. Yesterday, I addressed the opening of the Second International Conference on Returning Ukrainian Children, Detained Civilians, and Prisoners of War in Toronto. Like the first conference in Montreal two years ago, it is once again co-hosted by Ukraine, Canada, and Norway. Ukraine is represented on the ground by a strong delegation, including Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin and my deputy @Mariana_Betsa. Still, it was important for me to deliver my remarks personally. Just minutes before I began recording my address, Russia struck the National Academy of Sciences. The building is — or rather, was — just over one kilometre from my office at @MFA_Ukraine. Russia’s target is Ukraine and our people. For Moscow, there is little difference between destroying a building with a missile or a jet-powered drone and destroying a human being through systematic torture and ill-treatment. This is why we are already working at the UN on a General Assembly resolution specifically addressing the torture of Ukrainians in Russian captivity, following the adoption last December of the resolution on our deported children. Russia is capable of acts of goodwill — but only when it is left with no other choice. We need more pressure. In every dimension. From all our allies. And we need it now — before it is too late for another one of our people. Canada’s sanctions this month targeting those involved in the deportation and forcible transfer of Ukrainian children are an example to follow. Russia’s war is genocidal at its core. This is why the human dimension is central to bringing it to an end. I am grateful to Canada and Norway for taking the lead on this track. My special thanks go to my dear colleague @AnitaAnandMP. I can always tell when people put their heart and soul into what they do — and this is clearly the case. The conference is called “Pathways to Peace.” One thing is clear: the return of our people is a key checkpoint on any pathway to real peace. Bypassing it is not an option. When it comes to our people, no compromise is acceptable. We will not rest until every one of them returns home.

“We were being trained to be Russian soldiers.” Daria, 18, and Matvii, 19, grew up in Russian-occupied Crimea. At the Pathways to Peace Conference in Toronto, they described how Russia uses schools to prepare Ukrainian children for military service. Daria recalled boys being taught to handle weapons. Matvii described cadet classes and a Russian soldier urging pupils to fight against Ukrainians when they turned 18. Countering this indoctrination and militarization requires sustained international action. Children need safe routes out of occupation and long-term support to recover and rebuild their lives. Read their testimonies in the Institute of Mass Information’s report. #BringKidsBack imi.org.ua/news/nas-gotuvaly…
