Signature match is antiquated and stupid and from an era when people signed physical checks all the time. It's insane that we are using this "technology" in 2024.
Nevada’s secretary of state, seeing high number of rejected ballots in Clark and Washoe, says one of the biggest issues is that the signatures of younger voters don’t always match what’s on their driver’s licenses:
“It’s mostly the fact that young people don’t have signatures these days. And when they did register to vote through the automatic voter registration process, they signed a digital pad at D.M.V., and that became their license signature.”

It’s objectively false. Trump did this in 2020 and he’s limbering up to falsely claim victory again in 2024 —as soon as tonight
We should call it what it is: a lie

Gov. @JoshShapiroPA told reporters a little while ago in Philadelphia that he expects a faster count than in 2020, pointing to 1 million fewer mail in ballots requested and state law change that requires counting not to stop.
“All of that together should speed up the count."

Women over 65 remember what it was like before Roe v. Wade became the law of the land. That's why they are voting for Kamala.

.@propublica found Texas women who died while having miscarriages because doctors wouldn't treat them until their fetus had no detectable heartbeat.
Treating them would be a "crime," they feared.
@Cassandrajar & @Ksurana6 have the horrifying story:

Asked how to fix schools, Trump’s answer is to shutter the Department of Education and stop sex change operations in schools — which, of course, are not happening.
Absurd non-answers every day. But sure keep telling us Kamala is short on policy. 🙄

Republicans don't give a rip about states' rights.
Republicans blocked a bill to allow women living in states with abortion bans to travel out of state to get abortion care without fear of interference or prosecution.
It's always been about power and control over women.

If this was Biden, there would be an NYT editorial this morning demanding he resign from office, but since it's Trump, just a throw away story whose headline, well, let's just say it misses the mark.

PA and WI still have laws to prevent any mail-in ballots from being counted until after polls close and the same-day voting numbers start to report.
This is how Trump's campaign fooled millions into thinking Trump "won" on election night.
And they plan on doing it again.
In PA Democrats continue to return their mail ballots at a faster rate than Republicans. I've added county ballot returns by party reg to show this is not simply that more ballots are returned in Democratic counties election.lab.ufl.edu/early-v…

The US has the worst maternal and infant mortality rates among high-income nations despite having the highest healthcare spending in the world.
We need to be working on solving the issues we already have, not creating new ones by taking away reproductive rights.

The Hurricane Helene response has been good, actually. @ryanlcooper explains how we're in a famliar cycle of Republicans gutting emergency response and Democrats restoring it.

Dan Bishop was the lone MAGA Republican North Carolina House member who voted to shut down the government the day before Hurricane Helene made landfall.
Jo and I ask that you join us in praying for our neighbors in Western North Carolina.
The devastation is staggering and the recovery will be long and challenging. The entire congressional delegation will be working in Washington to make sure the federal government is supporting our state.
Meanwhile, we have donated to two disaster relief organizations that are already on the ground leading recovery efforts in Western North Carolina: SamaritansPurse.org and BaptistsOnMission.org. There are many equally worthy relief agencies you could choose to support, including the Red Cross (redcross.org/donate) and the NC Disaster Relief Fund operated by the state government (nc.gov/donate).
From all advice received, our gifts are far more helpful at this time than our presence, so please share what you can.
Tragedies like Hurricane Helene bring out the best in people – a desire to help their neighbors and to serve – but sadly they also can bring out the worst in some. Please be on the lookout for scammers seeking to take advantage of the disaster. You can report scams and price gouging through the NC Department of Public Safety: ncdps.gov/our-organization/e…

Trump said that he would be delivering supplies to the storm disaster site, but when pressed for details, the campaign changed the story that they were “coordinating” efforts from charities that routinely do it after every natural disaster. meidasnews.com/news/trump-ad…

The indictment against Eric Adams reads like farce, but that doesn't mean New Yorkers shouldn't be angry. As @ElieNYC writes, New Yorkers should be pissed! Adams allegedly defrauded the city, and he did this by gaining access to public funds. Our funds.
