They are absolutely inconveniencing everybody intentionally. Even in Muslim countries they would get their asses kicked.

Sigh.
Some chatter on social media would have you believe that crime is out of control.
The facts tell a different story.
As @frasernelson has shown in his Substack today:
Violence is at its lowest level since the crime survey began in 1981.
Robbery is at a record low.
Crime, excluding fraud, is 78% down on its peak in 1995.
And the stats show this Government is delivering on its promises too:
Knife crime is down 11%.
Knife murders are at their lowest level in 35 years.
Thefts including phone snatching have fallen by 20% in the last year alone.
But I know there is more that we must do, and we will:
We’ve put more than 3,800 extra neighbourhood officers into roles, with named, contactable officers for every neighbourhood.
We’re introducing the most significant reforms to policing in a generation.
We are tackling rising rates of violence against women and girls through our landmark strategy.
And we are tackling crimes like fraud, more prevalent in our increasingly online world, with £250 million directed to this challenge in our Fraud Strategy published this year.

Alternative headline: the internet has been insecure for years, and now the tech debt payments are coming due
AI is helping us fix things – at San Francisco, CA
Looks like this really is just the beginning: Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince warns that AI is uncovering long-hidden software vulnerabilities, potentially triggering years of weekly security crises.
"he was aware of “a bunch of additional severe vulnerabilities that are present in other pieces of critical software” and predicted busy months ahead as AI surfaced long-hidden weaknesses in the fabric of the internet."

Donovan McNabb defended Jalen Hurts on WIP after Spike Eskin said we should expect more from him given the money he makes.
McNabb brought up the revolving door of offensive coordinators Hurts has had in Philadelphia.
Love seeing our former franchise quarterback stick up for a current one. ✊🏽

If we made rockets fully reusable, they wouldn’t be dumped in the ocean anymore. Anyone working on this?
You cannot pause Chinese AI,
So you should not pause US ai.
It's like Nukes, it's devastating if th have it and not us, but ok if we both.
Maybe we'd be better off if no one had it , but that's not possible ... So here we are ..
This is insane. We cannot allow AI agents to go into your bank account and act independently without your authorization. But that is what’s happening right now.
Left unchecked, AI could endanger the entire global financial system — including your bank account.
Pause AI NOW!
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Per Axios, detected AI agents access bank accounts with the customer’s permission. This violates most banks’ terms requiring human logins, which is why banks call it “unauthorized.”

🚨 SOMETHING VERY STRANGE IS HAPPENING TO THE INTERNET RIGHT NOW.
An AI discovers a catastrophic vulnerability buried in the infrastructure powering roughly 70% of the world’s websites. A vulnerability that apparently survived for more than a decade.
Suddenly, the NSA issues an extraordinary warning. Governments across Europe begin taking websites offline. Japan’s Prime Minister sounds the alarm. OpenAI, Google and some of the world’s largest cybersecurity companies coordinate an emergency response.
All because AI supposedly discovered something nobody could exploit at scale before?
Now here’s where things get interesting.
What if intelligence agencies already knew about these vulnerabilities? What if classified systems had been quietly exploiting weaknesses that commercial AI is only now beginning to uncover?
Think about that. If publicly available AI can uncover vulnerabilities of this magnitude today, what capabilities have existed behind closed doors for the last decade?
And here’s an even more uncomfortable possibility.
What if this crisis becomes the perfect justification for an entirely new internet architecture? Mandatory AI surveillance, government-controlled cybersecurity infrastructure, centralized digital identity and emergency powers to disconnect entire networks.
The Deep State wouldn’t even need to manufacture a cyberattack. A genuine vulnerability and the public’s fear of exploitation could accomplish far more.
Perhaps the real story isn’t that AI discovered a hole in the internet.
Perhaps it’s that AI has started exposing holes that certain people would have preferred remained undiscovered.
And the most terrifying question of all?
WHO HAD THE KEYS BEFORE AI FOUND THE DOOR?

this is why people are in shambles
if you consider yourself a good programmer, you almost certainly enjoy AI, because you keep the creative/big brain responsibilities and tasks but lose the puzzle brain teasers that don't really matter
the big brain architecture/design stuff is almost always what makes a 100xer a 100xer. never writing code (although 100xers excel at that too)

“Say your comments ON AIR as you did the DISRESPECT! This is where getting TOO CUTE with the commentary GOES WRONG!!”

~20 years ago I had a recruiter tell me I was too junior for a specific role they had.
They didn’t realize I wrote the tech test for the company that was trying to hire (they had outsourced the test). I said I wouldn’t apply anyway due to the conflict of interest of doing the engineering test I authored.
The recruiter then went absolutely ballistic that nobody “senior” could seemingly pass the tech test and was pissed I made it too hard for the folks she’d already been putting forward. Nobody had passed it.
Within 12 months I’d left to start my first business at 23. Never looked back.

Here’s what I don’t understand, and maybe you can help me.
It’s vitally important to save these lives that these foreign countries receive this money from the United States.
Yet they have money of their own. They all have budgets and operate governments. Why didn’t they make up the difference out of their own money?
So, what things did they choose to spend their money on that were more important than these lives?
If it’s not important enough for them to spend their money on – they chose to spend it on something else – why is it important enough for America to spend its money on?
