Wes Huf puts the gospel in simple terms ❤️
I have three sci-fi franchises that I absolutely adore:
1. Stargate: SG-1 #SaveStargate
2. Fringe
3. Travelers
Honorable mentions of Farscape, Firefly, and the X-Files.
I don't celebrate Halloween, but I did represent Stargate at work today #savestargate

I got to talking about puzzles with my optometrist last week, and he gave me this when I went back to get my trial contacts this week lol
I was equally prepared with a gift and gave him a mini puzzle. Exchanging puzzles with my optometrist is the thing to do, apparently 😆
A very interesting take. This has inspired me to buy more DVDs because I don't want to be held hostage paying to a company just so I can watch my favorite shows.
The TRUTH about why AMAZON Doesn't Care about Legacy STARGATE Fans and Chose to go with Jac Schaeffer for the new Series over Martin Gero and our OGs:
This is going to BLOW YOUR MIND!
Because, They Don't Need You. In Fact, Amazon Executives Believe YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN CAPTURED!
We keep thinking, this makes no sense. They need long time fans to bolster viewership of their new shows... Actually They Don't.
Amazon values new subscriptions over everything else. The number 1 priority for Mike Hopkins who is in charge of Amazon Prime is to keep subscriptions growing. This is the #1 metric stock holders track in streaming services. More subscribers means more advertisers which equals more dollars.
This is why every streamer is in search of the mythical younger audience because they represent not yet captured subscribers. Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel and now STARGATE. We all keep saying, it makes no sense! We're not watching these new crappy shows... how can they keep making them!?!?
The Answer is BECAUSE WE ARE ALREADY WATCHING. That's right. These streaming services can see that we are already subscribed and watching Star Trek TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and even Enterprise. We are still watching Star Wars eps. 1-6 (okay 4-6 anyway) and we are watching Iron man through End Game.
And Guess what happened with the New Stargate Series was announced? We ramped up our watching of SG1, Atlantis and Universe with our Amazon Prime subscriptions!
That was the moment they got us. And it was the moment they realized they didn't need us for new Stargate. Here is the executive pitch:
"Old fans are already subscribed. They are watching the old shows and they aren't going anywhere. Since we don't have to release the views on new shows, we don't have to count on them. What we need is to focus on NEW FANS... people not already subscribed to watch Stargate. Now, who are those people? Young people, Gen Z and Gen Alpha, mostly women and young people struggling to find their identities. This generation is young and emotional and the content needs to reflect that. Besides, old fans will probably watch the new stuff anyways."
What about advertisers? Won't they be upset by the views? NO! Because they are advertising across platforms and streamers can fudge the views however they want. But they can't lie on that 10-Q form to the SEC without repurcussions.
So Amazon Studios TV Chief Peter Friedlander wants to keep his job and decides to hire Blair Fetter from Netflix because Netflix is arguably the only streamer that has found the mythical audience. Gero is Out and they hire 47 year old Jac Shaeffer, whose Agatha All Along and work on Wanda Vision will 100% create Stargate to capture this small and non paying segment of the population.
That's right. I don't know how Amazon hasn't figured out that us Legacy Stargate fans are the ones paying the subscription fees for this Younger Audience who mostly still lives at home.
That's why Robocop's original co-creators are working on the new Amazon series still. Because there is not enough original content to capture original fans yet. They are going to have to build that audience with this show and then they can replace them with future content.
So, if you really want these streaming services to do the right thing, perhaps it's time we start pulling old DVDs out of storage bins and start watching our favorite old shows from physical media because that will scare the shit out of them. And just perhaps, they'll eventually start making new content for us again. #SaveStargate
お誕生日おめでとうございます!
He's not well known for this film, but it's one of my favorite movies.

Legendary Actor Hiroyuki Sanada Turns 66 Years Old! 🎉🎬
Hiroyuki Sanada has spent decades building a career that bridges Japanese cinema and Hollywood with remarkable ease. From acclaimed performances in The Twilight Samurai and The Last Samurai to major franchise roles in The Wolverine, Avengers: Endgame, Mortal Kombat, and John Wick: Chapter 4, his quiet intensity and commanding presence have made him instantly recognizable.
His career reached another landmark with Yoshii Toranaga in Shōgun, a performance that earned him both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. The role introduced his work to an even wider global audience while adding another powerful character to a résumé already filled with samurai, warriors, villains, mentors, and historical figures.
Some of his standout roles include:
• Yoshii Toranaga (Shōgun)
• Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion (Mortal Kombat / Mortal Kombat II)
• Koji Shimazu (John Wick: Chapter 4)
• Ujio (The Last Samurai)
• Shingen Yashida (The Wolverine)
• The Elder (Bullet Train)
• Kenji (Rush Hour 3)
• Ryuji Takayama (Ringu / Ringu 2)
• Ōishi Yoshio (47 Ronin)
• Dumo the Sumo (Minions)
• Musashi / Sato (Westworld)
• Dogen (Lost)
• Seibei Iguchi (The Twilight Samurai)
• Akihiko (Avengers: Endgame)
• Captain Kaneda (Sunshine)
Happy 66th birthday, Hiroyuki Sanada! Toranaga, Scorpion, Ujio, and Seibei Iguchi represent just a few chapters of a career defined by precision, intensity, and a screen presence that commands attention without ever needing to shout. 🎂⚔️
Sam can take care of herself, but I love that she's got amazing back up ❤️ These are the kinds of characters and relationships I want in the new Stargate.

But also, this is just beautiful 😍
Some people get really mad when they open up a used puzzle and the pieces aren't disassembled.
Similar to "Be Kind, Rewind," it's courtesy to break it up before you pass it along.
I don't get mad, bcuz puzzle etiquette comes from time and experience lol
Is this a psyop to get fans to never request Stargate be made again? Get us to become weary of anything upcoming?
Because that's how it feels. Martin Gero was the right pick. We don't want 'new and modern.' I hope Amazon realizes that trend is over.

Dear @AmazonMGMStudio & @PrimeVideo,
What you have chosen to do with Stargate is a horrible decision.
You greenlit a show made by the original writers and including original actors, continuing the original story while adding new content to it.
The fans were elated. Then you suddenly say "it caters to the fans too much, the fans will like it too much." And you cancel it.
Then you ignore the fans for 4 months. Completely ignored everything. Stargate went HUGE after that news.
Then you pick a woman with no ties to the IP at all. No history, no love, nothing. And you reboot it.
Why? Why are you hitting the fans so hard? Why are you doing this?
We don't want a reboot. We dont want what you want. You work for us, remember?
We pay you. Yet you ignore the entire audience and spit in its face. With a smile.
How dare you. Seriously. How freaking dare you.
Literally every single IP in all of creation has been hijacked by activists and destroyed.
Stargate was all that was left.
"There's no agenda!" Yeah, right.
There's definitely an agenda.
Congratulations, @AmazonMGMStudio. You successfully gave an entire fanbase the biggest middle finger ever.
We get it.
Message received.
I'm also thinking this was a test by Amazon. They wanted to see the level of backlash depending on who they hired. I hope they get the message loud and clear. Despite some of our eternal optimism, this was not the right move. I still want canon and Martin Gero. #savestargate

After decades of avoiding social media, I went active on X to support #SaveStargate.
Literally.
In the past year, it's been an honor and privilege to have participated with the #Stargate community on X.
Previously, I went through over five years of dedicated work with my dear friend, Richard Hatch (R.I.P.), to continue the original Battlestar Galactica (1978-79). No reboot, no reimagining. Then with Bryan Singer and Tom DeSanto. September 11, 2001 ended that dream as Fox delayed production--and Universal's SyFy power-played their hand successfully. I still maintain both Richard's and Bryan/Tom's productions would have been light years better than nuBSG. This new Stargate news resonates similarly.
Honestly, this new #Stargate news hurts almost as much as the Martin Gero mid-production cancellation by Amazon MGM Studios. A new series reboot may have appeared inevitable, but many of us are optimists to our core. We hoped that 350+ legacy episodes and movies would fuel the next generation of Stargate.
To Gateworld (Darren Sumner) and Dial The Gate (David Read), you have tremendous support and respect out here. We see you're caught between closeness and allegiances to what was -- and wanting to honor the show for what may be. I only hope the new Stargate is a worthy successor.
I've said for many years, pre-dating this A.I. boon, that entertainment will be reshaped forever when A.I. is able to generate ultra-realistic shows/movies in real-time -- which will offer *incredible* possibilities. I think Skydance is poised to do this in the 2030s, for example. Entertainment will change forever. It's coming.
Yes, we'll eventually see the SGU crew of Destiny meet their destiny; SGA's Atlantis achieve more legendary status; and more adventures from the beloved assortment of heroes of SG-1. And more. Just not as it should have been, with the original creatives (and inspired new creatives joining their ranks), mind you.
To Martin Gero, Brad Wright, Joseph Mallozzi, Michael Shanks, and every cast and crew person associated with the canceled Stargate production -- and ALL Stargate productions which were foundational to making Stargate an original, thought-provoking, entertaining, and unmatched franchise, THANK YOU.
NONE of you will be forgotten. And many of us look forward to your present and future work--while enjoying what you created in the past, too.

Also, I trust David Read's judgement and if WandaVision left an impression on him, I still have hope that -though this new Stargate may not be what we wanted - there is hope that it won't be entirely bad? 😅
And perhaps, if we are heard, there will be more of the original creative team involved still! We have Gero's producers, who knows who could end up being involved in the writing team! We're not giving up. #SaveStargate
I am in the camp where I want to give the new Stargate a chance, if it ever gets made. If it turns out to be horrible, we can give it the Origins treatment lol
Either way, I'll always want canon!Stargate #savestargate
This anecdotal tidbit just made this scene even more poignant ❤️
I love what RDA said and I'm now going to count that as if Jack said it to Sam 🫂 #savestargate
"I [Amanda Tapping] still get very emotional when I talk about this episode, because it kind of mirrored my real life experience. I lost my stepdad the previous October, and was devastated... So there I am in the Stargate observation room, watching Carmen [Jacob Carter] lying in this bed, and they call me down and I'm running down the stairs into this room, and as I lean down towards Carmen it strikes me: not only the enormity of the moment in Stargate, but I'm reminded of my stepdad, which is just filling my heart up. I looked at Carmen and realized that he was not going to be on the show any more. My beautiful Carmen, whom I adore. All of a sudden I started to cry and couldn't stop. I wasn't even on camera at the time, but I couldn't stop. Peter Deluise looked at me and asked, 'Are you all right?' and I sobbed, 'But it's Carmen." Tapping says she eventually pulled it all together, and went to the observation room to shoot a scene with Richard Dean Anderson: "We're sitting getting ready for this little scene between Carter and O'neill, which is quite wonderful, and some interesting things are brought to bear. Rick turned to me and said, 'You're not crying, are you?' and I went, 'Yes, I am.' And he replied, 'I hate it when you cry. I hate it.' And it was just the perfect prelude to that little scene between us.
