This summer, I travelled to Nigeria to report on the sexual and reproductive issues facing disabled women and girls in Nigeria.
As heavy as the subject matter was, I left Nigeria heartened to know there are people pushing for change.

I wrote a very personal piece for today’s @Independent_ie.
The campaign to get Skyclarys reimbursed has exhausted me. I just want to get back to my normal life, and not have this uncertainty always looming over me.

In the 12 months since Harvey passed we have had:
One protest
Two government meetings
One meeting with the HSE
One AV room meeting
One petition
One Whistleblower disclosure
Approximately 30 TV and Radio interviews
Many newspaper interviews
One secured Statutory Inquiry
And now multiple broken promises from @CarrollJennifer and @SimonHarrisTD
In the same 12 months we have also seen:
At least 13 controversies around CHI and their treatment of children
At least 80 articles around scandals or governance failures in CHI
And many many evasive answers and promises from government.
@CarrollJennifer since I know your team is watching, release those reports and allow this inquiry be the turning point in how these children are treated. Until they’re published, we cannot have meaningful engagement in this inquiry.
Choosing to turn a blind eye now after everything you have heard and seen makes you just as culpable if more children come to harm that could have been prevented.

No harm but I'm sick of seeing non disabled advocates getting all the praise and media inches while disabled contributions are only rolled out for special interest pieces. We're the experts on our own lives and experiences; not relatives.

Outrageous, wilfully ignorant, reckless and amoral to effectively disapply climate laws in this way…

It cannot be understated what a danger Jim O'Callaghan is to the constitutional right of access to justice. I hope the legal aid saga, which continues to escalate, puts an end to not only the future Taoiseach talk but his political career as a whole.
Dead women deserve better than to be used as cannon fodder for bigots. Until you're just as outraged by white Irish men murdering women as you are when anyone else does it, please spare us all the faux outrage and concern.
