Happy happy Father’s Day to this handsome man @drkaye00! The kind of Daddy that everyone looks up to, who always helps us aim for the stars, and is always there to catch us when we fall. We’re so grateful for you! Thank you for building us this beautiful life! ❤️ #therealMVP

Today is the birthday of John Dewey, an early proponent of experiential learning. Rejecting the idea of education as the rote memorization of facts, he argued that learning is interactive and that students should have a role in constructing their own learning.

Listen. The amount of mind Olympics Kamala has to do to not come across as angry, emotional, combative but also be firm, warm, honest, direct ...all while this mf’er is straight up lying and gaslighting her.
Whew. The strength and the talent of Black women.
And thank god we have our people to help us hold tight to the real work when it feels daunting and messy. #PSM @Randerson__

1/2 With all the discussion about the pandemic's effect on how we teach, let's not overlook its potential relevance to WHAT we teach. Imagine all the potential projects as students explore what covid (& the failure to contain it) reveal about our society!...

Educators: what are you burning? Your White-centered curriculum? The Amy Cooper next door? Your anti-Black behavior policies? The school's racist policies? Your racist ass principal? The funding for the police in schools vs counselors?
WHAT ARE YOU BURNING???!!?!?!?!?

If you’re unbothered or mildly bothered by the 1st knee, but outraged by the 2nd, then, in my father’s words, you’re “more devoted to order than to justice.” And more passionate about an anthem that supposedly symbolizes freedom than you are about a Black man’s freedom to live.
This pretty much made me break out in tears this morning after the week we’ve had, and the weeks we are about to have. So grateful that we have such dedicated, amazing educators ready to take this on! #wegotthis

There's an enormous difference between:
(a) People ravaged by a system's oppressions discussing the resilience needed to survive and thrive in it, and
(b) People who uphold the system ignoring those oppressions and telling people ravaged by it they need more grit.
educationdive.com/news/repor… My passion project this year...SO important, SO relevant, applies to everyone. Because media can change the world. Our capacity for media literacy will determine how. #thework
