.@FDACBER @SecKennedy, It's 83 DAYS since our #NUROWN Citizens' Petition Survival data: #GoldStandard for FDA approvals. As @DrMakaryFDA said, 'gold standard science & common sense' this FDA #NUROWN survival data UNPRECEDENTED in ALS history & UNAVAILABLE at ADCOMM Five-Year Survival: 100% in NurOwn EAP vs. 20% in ALS natural history. All EAP participants (n=10) achieved five-year survival without tracheostomies. Extended Tracheostomy-Free Survival (TFS): 7-year median tracheostomy-free survival (range from 5 to 8.5 years), far surpassing the 2.5- to 3-year median in ALS natural history data. Progression-Free Survival (PFS): When patients received NurOwn, they experienced PFS ranging from a few months up to 17 months. Every day of delay dooms more patients. The suffering is immeasurable. @VPrasadMDMPH: The science is in. The time for waiting is over. End 156 years of hopelessness. NEW case study about 2 Chinese children with rare form of pediatric #ALS caused by heterozygous, de novo #SPTLC2 variants. journals.sagepub.com/doi/ful… • 6-year-old male = novel (c.197T > G, p.T66R). • 7-year-old female = recurrent (c.778G > A, p.E260K). @ChildrenMelanin raised this issue when her son King Nazir, died of ALS. @NIH's Carsten Bönnemann is leading this research. @SecKennedy @NINDSdirector please fund more research to develop a therapy to help these children. @NINDSfunding @brtraynor @iamalsorg @BiomarkerBob @RitaSattler @TargetALS_fdn @AnswerALS @JinsyMd @UMassChan

Sadly #Hispanic representation in clinical trials is abysmal. Here's a slide I presented at 2025 ASCPT Conference re URM enrollment in #ALS and #amyloidosis trials. My Mexican mother died of #ALECT2 amyloidosis... a subtype that disproportionately impacts Mexican Americans and people of MENA descent. Yet there are no treatments for ALECT2, no current studies, no natural history studies. @NIH we must do better for people in the #raredisease communities. #HispanicHeritageMonth #LatinosInMedicine #nephrology #HispanicHealth #chicanos #latinosenusa
While the numbers can vary, one thing is clear: Hispanics face real barriers to accessing clinical trials and, as a result, treatment.

No progress yet, unfortunately Previous FDA leadership always made ALS patients wait until the very last minute before answering. So many people would die waiting, just like they are now. I'm hoping that the new FDA leadership, @DrMakaryFDA @FDACBER @SecKennedy have meant what they have said publicly. The ALS community has been burned so many times by the FDA that I am getting more nervous as time goes by without an answer. New & UNPRECEDENTED survival data detailed in Nurown Citizens' Petition submitted 75 DAYS AGO, biomarker evidence, and the preponderance of RWE undeniably deserve an invite to @BrainstormCell to resubmit its BLA so we can have due process using the totality of the evidence. The question is whether we can take the public statements of @VPrasadMDMPH, @MartyMakary, and @RobertKennedyJr at face value. Will this administration be different? I pray that it will. It's the obvious decision if they are considering "Gold standard science and common sense" @realDonaldTrump @RepGuthrie @RepLarryBucshon @michaelcburgess @RepGusBilirakis @RepBillJohnson @RepRichHudson @RepBuddyCarter @DrNealDunnFL2 @cathymcmorris @LeaderJohnThune @RepDebDingell @RepMMM @SenatorWicker @RepRobinKelly @RepBarragan @RepAngieCraig @RepKimSchrier @RepLoriTrahan @BernieSanders @SenBobCasey @SenatorBaldwin @SenatorHassan @SenTinaSmith @SenMarkey @SenBillCassidy @SenMullin @lisamurkowski @RogerMarshallMD @RepJasonCrow @TeamCalvert @RepBrianFitz @ChrisCoons @RepAndyHarrisMD @DickDurbin @RepDianaDeGette @RepMikeQuigley @RepSchakowsky @rosadelauro @RandPaul @RepDonBacon @SenJohnCurtis

Genetically modified mesenchymal progenitor stem cells -- called senescence-resistant cells (SRCs) -- injected into monkeys can slow aging. Delivered via IV n a 44-week trial, these supercharged stem cells sparked: • sharper cognition • stronger bones • revitalized reproductive health • aging markers reversed The key lies in their microscopic messengers -- inflammation-fighting exosomes -- which tackle the root of aging: cellular senescence. Zero side effects or tumors! Stem cells unlocking healthier futures! #stemcells #exosomes
NEW PAPER: Old monkeys injected with special stress-resistant human progenitor cells had improved cognitive function, bone density, less reproductive system decline, and slower rates of aging in multiple tissues! 👏👏 Will find out when human trials are planned & revert

Today is #WorldDuchenneDay This community doesn't need just awareness ... it needs action... it needs treatments. @POTUS @DrMakaryFDA @SecKennedy These boys & men need @Capricor's #Deramiocel. It's the 1st disease modifying therapy that impacts cardiomyopathy in #Duchenne -- and it works on older boys & men as well. At the Cell Therapy Roundtable, this FDA promised to champion small biotechs that are tackling #rarediseases. Instead you cancelled the AdCom depriving Aidan & other dying patients the right to have their real world evidence heard. Fighting Duchenne is hard enough. People shouldn't have to fight @US_FDA to get the cell therapy that is helping them live. #TimeEqualsMuscle #MuscularDystrophy @ParentProjectMD @CureDuchenne @MindyL90810 @leffler_aidan @SenBillCassidy @SenJohnBarrasso @lisamurkowski @SenatorCollins @RonJohnsonWI @RandPaul @SenTuberville @SenMullin @RogerMarshallMD @MikeCrapo @SenHawleyPress @MarshaBlackburn @GOPHELP @LeaderJohnThune @HouseCommerce @RepGuthrie @RepJohnJoyce @DrNealDunnFL2 @RepAndyHarrisMD @RepGregMurphy @SpeakerJohnson @RepMichaelRulli @RepBuddyCarter @JohnJamesMI @RepHarshbarger

.@DrMakaryFDA @FDACBER @SecKennedy, Please read my OpEd: newsweek.com/doctors-plea-na… The new FDA leadership now arrives with bold promises of change, posing a question that haunts everyone touched by an untreatable neurological disease: Will this time be different? Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary @RobertKennedyJr vows to "sweep away barriers" and to "figure out new ways of accelerating approvals for drugs and treatments that treat rare diseases." FDA Commissioner @MartyMakary has several times asked why it takes 10 years for a drug to get to market and proposes a "conditional approval" pathway based on a "plausible mechanism." Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) Director @VPrasadMDMPH promised to "take action at the first sign of promise for rare diseases." For the ALS community, these words are now a crisis of credibility. In a disease that has a median survival of 2-3 years, we are asking for regulatory flexibility for a treatment that began its Phase 1 trial in 2011 and was granted FDA Fast Track designation in 2014. As a petitioner on the July 3 citizens' petition for a stem cell therapy known as NurOwn, my community has presented the FDA with a clear test. Ultimately, we are seeking accelerated approval based on new, unprecedented survival data from an expanded access program—data that exceeds the extension of survival of many approved cancer therapies. But the initial request is simpler: invite the sponsor (@BrainstormCell ) to resubmit its application for a full review. Ours is a request for due process to give a voice to the voiceless—the lowest possible bar for the Trump administration to demonstrate its promised flexibility It has been 57 days of continued #ALS deaths & horrific suffering, since we submitted the July 3rd Nurown citizens' petition. Please invite them to resubmit the BLA and take the first step to ending 156 years of hopelessness. #ManySignsOfPromise #ManyPlausibleMechanisms #CriticalUnmetNeed #100PercentFatal #AcceleratedApproval @realDonaldTrump @RepGuthrie @RepLarryBucshon @michaelcburgess @RepGusBilirakis @RepBillJohnson @RepRichHudson @RepBuddyCarter @DrNealDunnFL2 @cathymcmorris @LeaderJohnThune @RepDebDingell @RepMMM @SenatorWicker @RepRobinKelly @RepBarragan @RepAngieCraig @RepKimSchrier @RepLoriTrahan @BernieSanders @PattyMurray @SenBobCasey @SenatorBaldwin @SenatorHassan @SenTinaSmith @SenMarkey @SenBillCassidy @SenMullin @lisamurkowski @RogerMarshallMD @RepJasonCrow @TeamCalvert @RepBrianFitz @ChrisCoons @RepAndyHarrisMD @DickDurbin @RepDianaDeGette @RepMikeQuigley @RepSchakowsky @rosadelauro @RandPaul @GovBraun @SenJohnCurtis

UPDATE: He took the hat from a kid on camera… and now his entire business is getting torched. The man who selfishly snatched the signed cap at the US Open has been identified. His name is Piotr Szczerek, CEO of a Polish paving company called Drogbruk. The internet didn’t just find him. They found his company. And they’re lighting up every review site they can find. This is what happens when the world sees you rob a kid’s moment, and you smile like you got away with it.

Meet Piotr Szczerek, the hero who snatched a hat from a kid on live TV at the US Open. He’s a millionaire CEO of a private company, and now he’s bravely threatening to sue anyone who dares to call him a “greedy POS” or anything equally hurtful. So whatever you do, definitely don’t share this post. Just quietly warn your close friends not to call him mean names. Wouldn’t want to hurt his millionaire feelings.

Took Mom over 7 years to be dx'd with #amyloidosis then died 7 months later. Back then doctors missed signs of fatigue, failed #carpaltunnel surgery, neuropathy, #macroglossia, shortness of breath, and skin/hair/nail changes. No one did an echo. VAD chemo was off-label but started too late to help. That was 2003. So much is different today. NEW PODCAST DROP! buzzsprout.com/2363720/episo… In this episode of All Things Amyloid, we hear from Dr. Mazen Hanna, cardiologist at the Cleveland Clinic and co-director of the Amyloid Program. Adapted from his video “Cardiac Amyloidosis - AL and ATTR: Two Different Conditions” he explains how cardiac amyloidosis can originate from two very different types of amyloidosis: AL (light chain) or ATTR (transthyretin). Dr. Hanna illustrates how clinicians can identify cardiac amyloidosis and look to different diagnostic work-ups to understand whether the issues are due to AL or ATTR amyloidosis. These two conditions are treated differently and have different prognoses, emphasizing the importance of identifying the type of amyloidosis involved. His video can be found in the Education Hub on Mackenzie’s Mission website.
