Feeling resurrected after Mahler 2 @BridgewaterHall. There are times when a piece I’ve sung numerous times with @hallechoir takes on new meaning. More so joining @MasabaneCecilia, Sarah Connolly & @TheForeverBells…and, of course, @kahchun_music, @mattconducts and @the_halle 🥹
Very much looking forward to sharing the stage with @TheForeverBells this evening @BridgewaterHall with @hallechoir
Tomorrow night, @the_halle gives the first UK performance of Mahler’s 2nd Symphony with the real, deep church bells that the composer envisaged for the earth-shattering ending of the piece. Here they are with the percussion & timpani team, and Principal Conductor @kahchun_music

It was an honour to make this tribute to the great hymnwriter Bishop Timothy Dudley-Smith with @PamRhodesTV
I chose “Tell out my soul” as one of the hymns at my wedding and it’s meant a lot to me since my university days.

A labour of love about to start on @BBCRadio4. A Christmas Carolling tradition that is as warm and welcoming as the people I met in the village pubs.

Four weeks ago Meredith Cecilia Barton-Longworth made her way kicking and screaming into the world and changed our lives completely. I think we’ll keep her! ☺️ @DamianBarton8

🎵 Choral Scholars & Associate Choral Leaders - applications open!! 🎵
The Diocese of Manchester and @stmartins_music are working together to bring beautiful choral music to local churches.
Supported by @churchofengland's Strategic Development Funding, Sing My Soul is helping to set up new community choirs, children's choirs and choral scholarships, giving everyone with a passion for music the chance to take part.
🎵 Choral Scholarships 🎵
Choral scholarships are aimed at aspiring singers who are considering a career in church and choral music. The programme offers stimulating and educative choral training to the scholars, and the chance to perform in churches around Manchester Diocese with the music team from St Martin-in-the-Fields, London.
Up to ten singers will enjoy an intensive, focused period of development alongside others of a similar standard whilst building on a tradition of musical excellence in churches in the city centre and beyond.
Applications are now open for 2024-25!
🎵 Associate Choral Leader Programme 🎵
We are also looking for three Associate Choral Leaders to lead our choral scholars, community choirs, and children’s choirs.
Full details are shared here

Today is my first official day of maternity leave. It’s strange for life to change so suddenly and for a career I’ve devoted myself to since 2006 to be put on hold. But I have @DamianBarton8 and everything else I need and I’m enjoying the glamour of being a Fabergé egg.
If you’re up to greet Easter morning, or adjusting to the clocks going forward, tune into @BBCRadio4 at 6.35am. It was such a joy to create this Sunrise Service with @JayHulmePoet who captured me in action recording sounds of the sea.

The Office of Tenebræ is recited after dark on the evenings of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Holy Week, a combination of the next day's Matins and Lauds.

Today was my final live @BBCRadio3 Choral Evensong* but I’m going out on a high with Tenebrae @WestminsterCath - a service I’ve wanted to produce for many years.
The choir are top class and they really know how to bang a book.
