Veteran deejay Lieutenant Stitchie is dead.
He died at hospital in Kingston on Monday, one day shy of his 61st birthday.
He has been ailing for some time.
Stitchie suffered a debilitating stroke in September 2024, and since then has been receiving care at a private medical facility.
He was born Cleveland Laing in Spanish Town, St Catherine in 1965.
He was a former athlete and school teacher.
Stitchie cut his musical teeth on the competitive sound system circuit during the early 1980s, alongside Papa San, Wickerman, and Major Worries.
He got his mainstream breakthrough with the hilarious Wear Yuh Size in 1986, followed by Natty Dread.

I think about this post every time I see someone on here bragging about a perf improvement w agents.
“The people who blindly trust agent output are in the former camp. They're sheeple, overdrinking from a fountain of mediocrity.”
I love AI too but you need to think!
I've got an agent in a loop optimizing a renderer with the goal to minimize frame times (and tests to measure). It got times down from 88ms to 2ms and allocations down from ~150K to 500. Sounds good, right? Wrong. This is exactly why agent psychosis is a big fucking problem.
As an experiment, I rewrote the Ghostty core render state in Go, with access to identically laid out data structures as Ghostty and the exact same validation tests. I made a purposely naive renderer (simple, correct, but slow). 88ms per frame with 150,000 allocations (horrendous, lol)!
I then kickstarted a Ralph loop to bring the frame times down. I told it it can't modify input data structures or the public API or tests (they're correct), but it can do anything else it wants. It got to work.
It has worked for about 4 hours. I've spent around $350 on this experiment so far. The results?
88ms => 1.5ms
150K allocs => ~500 allocs
Incredible right? Nope.
My hand-written renderer I ported has frame times (same benchmark) of ~20us (0.020ms) and 0 allocations in the update path.
This is the problem with psychosis and lacking systems understanding. If you don't understand the system, you're going to accept that this is an incredible result. If you understand the system, you'll see better solutions immediately and can do roughly 75x better on throughput.
The people who blindly trust agent output are in the former camp. They're sheeple, overdrinking from a fountain of mediocrity.
Standard disclaimer: I use AI all the time. I like AI. The point I'm making is to not blindly accept results. Think. Analyze. Learn.

Work in progress, but this is so fucking cool I just have to share..
I'm moving the entire CSS pipeline off the main thread in @ladybirdbrowser. This allows us to animate any CSS properties we want and they just keep going smoothly despite heavy JS execution!
Video demo is animating a bunch of flex and grid layouts while JS churns on the main thread. Same demo in Chrome for comparison.
Welcome to the future, bros 😎

My recent contributions to Dart SDK have landed, support for importing multiple and/or shared WebAssembly memories.
Getting closer to "native" interop between Dart and external WASM libraries (rather than hacky JS bridges).

Bend 2 is here!
It is a new programming language that blocks AI mistakes via *proof checking* - the same technique big AI labs used to solve open math problems, like Navier-Stokes.
It is also very fast, and runs on GPUs.
Watch the video. Link in the comments.
RELEASE DAY
After almost 10 years of hard work, tireless research, and a dive deep into the kernels of computer science, I finally realized a dream: running a high-level language on GPUs. And I'm giving it to the world!
Bend compiles modern programming features, including:
- Lambdas with full closure support
- Unrestricted recursion and loops
- Fast object allocations of all kinds
- Folds, ADTs, continuations and much more
To HVM2, a new runtime capable of spreading that workload across 1000's of cores, in a thread-safe, low-overhead fashion. As a result, we finally have a true high-level language that runs natively on GPUs!
Here's a quick demo:

TerraDart v0.28.1 is here, introducing the new migrate command: terradart-migrate.
It automatically turns your existing Terraform (HCL) into type-safe Dart.
No all-or-nothing rewrites: anything not yet converted simply stays as regular Terraform, so you can adopt Dart safely at your own pace.

Looks like there are lots of mixed opinions after the 🍏 launch and I felt a need to post just a quick reminder... foldables didn’t start with apple (wow wow right?) we’ve been building for android folds for years 👀
From the #Flutter side we are simply ready for this. With material and cupertino now decoupled from the core framework, we can support these layouts way faster than ever (remember?) . If you missed @craig_labenz's article on this, it is highly relevant now ;)
(ohh look, the article is just 2 days old) 🤓

I see a few comments about #flutter and react native dying soon. Most flutter devs stuck around because dart has some of the best tooling which you won't find elsewhere.
