Beautiful South Africans 🇿🇦, don’t fold. This is your home. We have no intentions of becoming refugees anywhere. We must continue to mobilize on all fronts until we get a government that will do what is in the interests of South African citizens. This government isn’t for us.

This woman is a powerful reminder why this election matters. She pays her rates and taxes like everyone else, yet she has to bathe in a plastic tub because there is no water in Midrand. Her refuse lies uncollected & the stench is unbearable. Before I am anything, I am a citizen.

Much of the work that we’ve executed in the past two-years would not be possible without a strong and supportive staff of professionals. I met with staffers from the Office of the Executive Mayor this afternoon to bid them farewell as the term of office ends.
This office consists of political appointees and permanent employees. I had an opportunity to thank them all for their dedication and commitment to helping the Mayoral Executive deliver on its mandate to the residents of Tshwane. @CityTshwane

Independent 2021 surveys and early projections did not show ActionSA leading. They showed a new party with limited national recognition (1–3% range) that performed much better in the metros it contested—especially Johannesburg, where it finished at 16.05%. The gap between actual and independent data was large. Becareful what you think is projected by the polls. We blasted them out the water before, this time is a tsunami!! @HermanMashaba @Action4SA @Olivia_LaGrange @El123V @AyandaAllie

If Dr Nasiphi is not voted for mayor of Tswane, Tswane is going to regret ntswi stru ka mmao.Tswane needs her to complete and continue with the good work she has started in that metro. The only mayor I know who switches of lights if you don’t pay your bills without carrying what entity of state you are, she’s always on the ground with the people, she doesn’t tolerate lawlessness, illegal foreigners , illegal infrastructure’s are destroyed. I just love her so much🫶🏼
People of Joburg, Herman Mashaba must lead the City of Johannesburg. ATM, Rise Mzansi etc must be part of the upcoming coalition. Quite frankly he is the most capable. DA was given 2 chances and they squandered them. Due to their arrogance. I’m not taking any chances with them.

Do you know how backwards we must be as a country to consider the shops of Pakistanis, Somalis, Nigerians,Ethiopians etc as “the economy” and the Government consistently making noise about protecting “the economy” .
Do you have any idea how much s*** we are in if our own government considers an illicit economy as part of “the economy” so much so that the President of the country would send out the army and stand at a BUSINESS event to protect the so called “economy” instead of getting rid of it?? ‼️
South Africa needs saving and it’s beyond a desperate situation now, it’s urgent 💔 VOTE WISELY 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦

Dear Black People,
Proximity to power does not make you powerful. Proximity to whiteness does not make you white. Proximity to privilege may buy you comfort, but it does not afford you privilege.
The DA is not and will never be the solution.

Tshwane was a mess under the DA, man. They left a mess behind, and someone had to clean it up. Whatever you do, please don’t vote for them

I can’t place whether I sensed a defeatist attitude or political arrogance when @helenzille said “it doesn’t matter if you don’t like me, or if you don’t like the DA even, as long as you love Joburg. Do it for Joburg!”
It’s giving “I know I’m toxic for society and so is the DA, but you need us for service delivery!”- which, in my view, is neither a lie nor a truism. I don’t have to like the @Our_DA to perceive their necessary for our municipal politics, but when a voting decision determines whether Sandton and Alex will be separated by a wall, whatever perceived necessity dwindles away, because I care about society.
Or perhaps that statement was intended for a very niche segment of the electorate? One with some deeply vested interests, superior political intelligence and economic stability which enables them to vote for a party and a person that concedes to being “unlikeable”?
What am I missing? Help me out here…

Folks, we are days away from an election in South Africa. If you see any poll, unless you are told the sample size, when and how it was done and who was interviewed, simply ignore what is said. Even if this info is given, unless it is a properly drawn sample, ignore it.

I spent my Sunday afternoon with some of Tshwane’s entrepreneurs at a special event hosted by Gourmet Gwinya & Grill - a beautiful restaurant that’s based at the Tshwane Fresh Produce Market. I had the pleasure of attending the restaurant’s grand opening two-years-ago and I’m glad that Jenny, a young thriving entrepreneur, remains open for business.
Over the past two-years in office, I’ve spent much of my time supporting and uplifting SMMEs and informal traders. It was truly a beautiful experience to spend my last few days in office interacting with entrepreneurs and religious representatives at the Church After Party.

Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer.
Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war.
To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha.
The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people.
And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final.
We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it.
Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made.
They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making.
One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.
