It is hard to grasp how realistic a #GaussianSplatting scan feels on #MetaQuest, so I made this video. Recording and scanning were done at different times of the day, hence the lighting difference, but overall only a side by side comparison in the headset does justice to how smooth and trippy it feels. Did you already tried Hyperscape? What's your impression?

This week we released a variety of new Meta wearables, including Oakleys and Ray-Bans, some designed for hardcore sports and others for lifestyle! 📣 I’ll also be making a new video covering all of these glasses, and I had the opportunity to bring them back to my studio.

Made this cavelike restaurant 3d environment with Marble from @theworldlabs @drfeifei, just with an image The model converts it into environments you can move around & has great object permanence. This is done with Gaussian Splatting, more on that and results from my other prompts 👇

I’m blown away by Meta’s Hyperscapes. You feel like you’re actually there. Makes me wish I could go back in time, capture the places I’ve loved, and step back into them whenever I want. The fact you can capture these with Quest 3 is wild.

This is an excellent overview of the state of VR/AR “truly world-changing breakthroughs must begin before the industry is mature. They require persevering for years despite misunderstanding, through lonely exploration and persistent effort, before success finally comes… Here's to everyone with the courage to stay the course for the long-term, even when it means going against the consensus.”
Hard to believe it’s the 12th Meta Connect already. The mix keeps shifting—VR, AR, MR, headsets, glasses, AI. VR may not have been the highlight, but its inflection point’s still coming. I wrote a long piece, a real deep dive. Read here 👇 medium.com/@realwuxu/why-vr-…

Meta's launch of RayBan Display is a great step forward for the AR industry. It's interesting to see their alignment with some of our early design decisions. Raven Glass is opening soon to developers with onboard 64-bit ARM compute and root access. If you want to build apps that run directly on stylish smart glasses and not rely on a limited mobile API, check out the EarlyBird program :) Excited to bring other unique features such as eye tracking and the hot-swappable battery system to the mix. raven.computer/s/design-deci…

Just demoed the new Meta Ray-Ban Display and Neural Band. Seriously impressive. The display is on in this video. With only 2% light leakage, it’s nearly invisible from the outside. More to share soon, but here’s a quick look.

We explored the use of 3D GS for museums, using an @mbamtl gallery as our testbed. A single on-site capture rendered across web, VR, and installation. Thank you to the MBAM for the support. See & try: labs.dpt.co/article-3dgs.htm… Here is the web version built using @playcanvas

AR プラレール (Plarail)! Experimenting with Object Tracking for toys with @Apple Vision Pro. @takaratomytoys プラレール objects like crossings (踏切/ふみきり) make great augmented reality targets. The Apple Vision Pro will even track trains so you can make cool interactions like people getting on the train when it stops at the station. Tracking moving trains doesn't work well but it wasn't designed for that. The end of the video shows ARKit object tracking working on an iPhone. It's less quick and robust than Vision Pro but there is still potential there. #designium

I had some wonderful time interviewing @reverendkjr , Editor In Chief at @UploadVR . He talked about Upload VR (including some advice on how to be featured there, as you can see in the video), and the XR ecosystem (there is also a fun anecdote about "the good old days", also involving @PalmerLuckey ) I had a fun time with him, and I have also learned a lot of new things. It's been great to celebrate the 9 years of my blog with this chat! You can watch the full interview on my blog skarredghost.com/2025/08/28/… #VirtualReality #VR
