A slow-moving org can nearly always be traced back to confusion around company goals. It’s why @kellan always starts conversations with leaders who are eager to improve team efficiency by asking them about their communication style.

Of course that's your contention. You're a first year engineering manager. You just finished some human centric leadership guru, Rands prob'ly.

It’s interesting how these EA dudes always seem to arrive at “the best way to benefit humanity is for ME to be as *personally rich* as possible”.

I’m thinking about the many, many amazing talks and case studies Twitter engineering published over the last decade about how insane was it to keep the site up during World Cups. Well, guess what starts in about a week? – at Brooklyn, NY

IMO their best play would basically be cultural extortion. For example I would pay $10/mo to keep Trump banned. And it could be an absolute libertarian triumph: The market determines who loses their platform. Kind of an antipatreon.

I have a tiny newsletter. I just wrote my first letter since November 2020. It's about New York's climate bond ballot initiative. If you're in New York State, you should vote for it. buttondown.email/mygov/archi…
I'm not saying that you should download your twitter archive and stop DMing anything you're not comfortable falling on the floor, I'm just saying that a non trivial number of the people who worked on this site are doing that. I'm sure it'll all be fine tho!

My other favorite genre of reply guy here is, “don’t prejudge him, when was the trial?” Sir, if there’s one thing about me, it’s that I will not be delegating my perspective on what constitutes morality to the American criminal legal system lmao

Hey y'all. I want to ask for your help today. Last week, my former company Mode laid off a bunch of people, including me. I was a little surprised, but that's a story for another time. I'll be fine. Today I want to help my colleagues find new work. coda.io/@mykola-bilokonsky/m…

It's mid-September and @NYCMayor + @NYC_DOT are required to finish painting 20 miles of new bus lanes by the end of the year to comply with the NYC Streets Plan. So far, they're at 2... RT to remind Bus Mayor Adams that time is running out to "get stuff done" for riders!

Figma is a truly impressive piece of tech though. Now that they've secured the bag, I hope we can learn a lot more about how they built it. Their approach is going to define the next generation of web applications.
