A coach once told me that the beauty of college football is its human element.
Unlike the NFL, where the better team usually wins, college football has always been shaped by the intangible: Emotion. Tradition. Pageantry. And sometimes, the truly inexplicable.
It’s in those moments that the sport is at its purest, most beautiful form.
My greatest fear for this new era of college football is that, in the pursuit of maximizing its commercial value, we’ll sacrifice the very soul that made it so special in the first place.

How did a former all-women’s college - tucked amid the Virginia mountains, football-less until the 1970s - become one of the nation’s fastest-ascending athletic programs?
From Curt Cignetti to Bob Chesney and now to Billy Napier, inside the “JMU Way.”

Love that @_willcompton mentioned Barbie.
The coaching spouses behind the scenes keeping everything together deserve a lot more recognition than they get.
As part of The Big Man Foundation’s #ThankACoach campaign, @_willcompton gives a few well-deserved shoutouts 🤝
Coach Ekeler, his wife Barbie, and Coach Bisaccia.
A reminder that coaching is a team sport for a lot of families.

Too many great messages came in yesterday to share them all in real time — so we’re celebrating coaches all week.

People don’t fail, they quit.
HUGE shoutout to the boys for helping us spread the word 🤝
National Coaches Day is about recognizing the coaches whose impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard.
Still time to thank a coach today.

One of my all time favorite people. Blaine understands why we do what we do better than most. Glad to have him on our team!

Least surprising thing I’ve seen today.
Coach Chesney is a class act. He’s always taken the time and gone out of his way to help our @thebigmanfound. It meant a lot to us, and every time he showed up, it moved the needle.
Dan Lanning said on the Jim Rome Show today that UCLA coach Bob Chesney texted him on Saturday night and offered to help with Dante Moore any way he could.
"He text me as they were traveling back to LA and said, 'Hey, if you need my help with Dante or anything and he's still in LA, I'll go check on this guy. I'm giving the team off tomorrow; let me know.' It speaks to the kind of person he is. I've got a lot of respect for him and his program."
