One sneeze from one kid could rule all of Genghis Khan’s armies. This is a dangerous bunch.

What can we learn from President Carter's first week in hospice. What conversations have you had about your own wishes? @CSPfellows @justlangporter reminds to have the difficult conversations now #palliativecare #hospice methowvalleynews.com/2020/04…

#Police when you come to an #EMS scene your questions are not more important than our care for the injured pp. Don't open the ambulance doors. Do knock. Do ask permission.

In EMS every call is in shitty situation. Cardiac arrest in grocery store deli, respiratory arrest on a bridge, hypoglycemia in camper, trauma arrest in a hayfield, semi truck on a chest in a garage. I could go on. A hallway sounds nice to me!

Yup
Seeing how much the world accepts that it’s impossible to move on after watching CPR really makes me think about how we (medical professionals, especially those who work in Emergency departments) are expected to just move on immediately after a code.

Law enforcement is 🚫healthcare. Stop🛑sharing PHI with them. The only reason to provide PHI to LE is an imminent threat, a death, a court order, there's an adult victim of a crime, criminal activity during an offsite emergency. #EMS #NurseTwitter

If you had to leave a career in medicine today and take up another job based on your current set of skills, what would you do? I’ve always thought I’d quite like to be the person that decides the soundtrack music in films/TV.

Very true. It’s a sneaky way that legal terms weasel their way into medicine. It has implications and we ought to be aware.
Who is teaching people to call opioids narcotics. Stop it.

Yes so many derogatory words and awful judgments. We gotta do better.
every day in the hospital i am AGHAST how folks with hx of drug use or sud are talked about, are treated, etc. truly we are so terrible. i just…don’t know how we live with ourselves as a profession when this happens all the time.

So many conflicting thoughts as I read this great article by @AvaKofman. One thing that is for sure, we need more #palliativecare to address the "kingdom of the sick."

Also Ice-T said "don't hate the player hate the game." In the American #healthcare system the game is fucked. @Cpsmith973

As a paramedic who goes on many 911 calls for people who checked the internet, you have no idea how many times I want to like this comment.

Eldy and I waiting for a meeting to be canceled. Nobody likes a canceled meeting more than me.

Weezy and Eldy are my EMT-D partners today.

Police are often dispatched to #EMS calls. This should stop because police: interrupt assessment and tx breach health privacy diminish pt trust increase contentious interactions violate rights by collecting info w/o warrant Instead police wait 2b requested by EMS #healthcare

This is a good question and applies equally to paramedics who do much of the same work, but with more uncertainty, less resources and almost no help. #EMS
'Jack of all trades, master of none' is often used to describe EM docs. But I think we are masters of quite a few things: Resuscitation, RSI, anaphylaxis, ordering CTs, undifferentiated shock, ultrasound etc. What do you think EM physicians are masters of?

Weezy is in the search and rescue gear trying tell me that’s what he wants to do. He should know better! I’d rather talk about goals of care and learn “what’s a good day look like for you?” #PalliativeCare

2 answers: #PalliativeCare should sit in every single professional who works with people w/ serious illness. We all need these skills. The speciality service should stand alone in institutions.
A never-ending issue…where should Palliative Care sit? Under Specialty Services (as a medical specialty) Under Oncology Services (historical and what about non-cancer?), or Under Geriatric Services (due to funding model that ignores consult and relegates to subacute)?

Yes yes! We all need PC training. I finished paramedic training in 09, RN in 15, and palliative care training in 20. Ive impacted more lives in the 2 years of #PalliativeCare work vs all the rest together.
Sometimes I wonder if my work as a #Palliativecare doctor is enabling a healthcare system to remain allergic to dying. I need to be careful not to position myself as the answer to all ‘end-of-life’ care. All healthcare providers need to identify & care for dying!! #Medtwitter
