H/T: Seattle has a new plan to end homelessness!
Downtown Seattle Association hired Community Solutions a 501(c)(3) with $183M in assets that got a $100M MacArthur grant in 2021 to tell Seattle’s Homeless Industrial Complex it needs to coordinate better and put people on a by-name list.
No public safety at the table.
No We Heart Seattle.
No Union Gospel Mission or Salvation Army. (or mention of faith based partners)
No clean-and-sober providers like The More We Love, Oxford, Weld, or Battlefield.
Jon (CEO of @downtownseattle ) says Service Resistant Homeless is a myth! That statement is widely used by Housing First Advocates.
Where was the criminal justice system?
More coordination without accountability or treatment isn’t a plan. It’s just more death, chaos, and wasted taxes dollars.

You literally cannot pass the ball to yourself in the NBA. That’s a travel every single time at every level…
But superstar privilege is alive and well. Refs let him Euro-step from half court like it’s nothing…
This is why casual fans tune out. Same rules don’t apply to everyone…
How many more of these “missed” calls are we supposed to ignore this season?

I’m not saying violence solves all problems but I do firmly believe that the quickest way to turn a brat into a functional member of society is to allow them to experience the consequences of their actions.

Seattle is no longer considered a lock for an NBA expansion team, Adam Silver has informed team owners, per @WindhorstESPN.
The league is reportedly using Mexico City as a potential alternative to pressure Seattle’s bidding group into raising its offer.

The video don’t lie (quoting @choeshow). Nick told me a shocking detail that he’s only required to check in twice a week to keep his tiny home. No matter how much we expand shelter beds the streets and parks will never clean up without law enforcement and intervention by cops and social workers who believe in accountability and treatment mandates. Incidentally we ran into Nick Saturday at Dr. Jose Rizal Park and he confirmed he abandoned his tiny home. Drugs and streets will always win no matter how much we expand shelter.@ExecZahilay I hope you watch this. Tiny Houses are an insult for families and useless and enabling for drug addicts. Thank you Brandi. Great coverage of the tiny house reality.
King County plans to spend another $5M on a new tiny house village, despite current villages being plagued with drug use and crime.

Barack Obama at his last press briefing with reporters, 2017:
"I have enjoyed working with all of you. That does not, of course, mean that I've enjoyed every story that you have filed, but that's the point of this relationship. You're not supposed to be sycophants. You're supposed to be skeptics. You're supposed to ask me tough questions. You're not supposed to be complimentary, but you're supposed to cast a critical eye on folks who hold enormous power."

Drug dealers should not get free housing for life 👇🏼DESC, Plymouth, and LIHI are definitely on notice. There are treatment beds available and We Heart Seattle will pay for the first 90 days of clean and sober Level 1 or 2 Housing widely available in our state—- in fact 5000 beds and could be doubled easily. It’s called the Oxford House Model.

Mayor Wilson and her team sat down for an interview with Chris Daniels from KOMO4, where he asks her directly about turning the CCTV cameras back on.
Like a stubborn mule, Katie Wilson refuses to budge off of her personal viewpoint that the cameras are bad, and still insists on waiting for an audit to finish. This is after an increasingly violent summer in Seattle, and after her own constituents have overwhelmingly demanded the cameras be turned on immediately and even be expanded.
As for the rest of her public safety plan; our organization will break that down at a later date since there is not much in it worth discussing here. But we are already seeing pushback from multiple city council members, including a fiery response from Senior CM Juarez.

Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce CEO Joe Nguyen spoke in front of hundreds of politicians and business leaders last week, where he said:
“So I want to be very clear: the progressive values in this region depends on the economic activities and jobs created by strong employers.
Housing doesn’t fund itself. Human services do not fund themselves. Public safety and parks do not fund themselves.
They are made possible by people creating companies, making payroll, and hiring workers, when businesses succeed, our values get funded. Economic growth is not separate from social progress. In fact, economic growth makes social progress possible.
You cannot fund compassion from an empty treasury.”
That last line is the key to everything.
Especially as Seattle stares down a $185 million dollar budget deficit, and as a new report from the fmr Gov. Chris Gregoire led group Challenge Seattle shows that Puget Sound lost 7,000 jobs last year alone.
Seattle can remain an economic powerhouse; but it is going to require progressivism to embrace a bit of capitalism to do so.
