Please join me in congratulating Metro’s Transit Operator of the Year, Tamieko Cook!
Our bus operators are the face of King County; dedicated public servants who show up every day to connect hundreds of thousands of people to jobs, school, health care, family, and more.
For 30 years, Tamieko has embodied that spirit of service. Inspired by her mother, Velda, who was also a transit operator, Tamieko joined Metro in 1996 and has since served our region not only behind the wheel, but as a leader in ATU Local 587 and on King County’s Equity Cabinet.
