In honor of Vandy's shocking upset of Alabama on Saturday, I had to round up the best moments in Nashville sports history.
H/T to @jrlind for the idea. Feel free to yell at me about the selections (or if you're a Bills fan). Shoutout to Lorenzo Neal.

That would not only make him the first player to ever play for both teams in the same game, but if he enters at catcher for the restart, will have both batted and caught in the same at bat.
I believe the last professional player to play for both teams in the same game was Dale Holman, who didn’t in Triple-A in the 1986 season. (2/3)

So there is a lot at play. Jansen is the batter that is at the plate when the @RedSox and @BlueJays game resumes, and he had an 0-1 count. Since the pinch hitter doesn’t inherit a 2-strike count, all action will be charged to the pinch hitter.
However, to make room for Jansen, the Red Sox DFA’ed Reese McGuire, who was the starting catcher in the suspended game, meaning there is a high probability that Jansen will come in to catch. (1/3)

Could new Red Sox catcher Danny Jansen (technically) play for both teams in the same game? It's on the table with the Red Sox and Blue Jays resuming a suspended game at the end of August. masslive.com/redsox/2024/07/…

The most underappreciated story in state legislatures from yesterday is that apparently the Oklahoma Department of Education can't log in to its own website because the person who had the password left and didn't give it to anyone. They haven't been able to login for 2 years.

It’s Steeplechase Day, I suddenly realize. Annual repost of something I wrote originally for the City Paper (RIP) in 2013 (!). Turned out to be quite the chronicle of a death foretold, I’m afraid (cc: @scavendish) nashvillescene.com/news/pith…

Broke ass franchise using the same 2 anthem singers for both games. Would never happen in Nashville.
