As of today, it is illegal in Quebec for payment terminals to calculate tips on amounts that include sales taxes. Tips must now be applied to the pre-tax total.
Restaurant operators are also required to clearly display the full bill, including the tip.
Hallelujah.
Right.
Nobody should be digging for change or stressing over parking fees when they’re at the hospital.
That’s why, starting May 1, parking will be free at all Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health facilities.
This change means less stress for patients, families, and healthcare workers. It’s one more way we’re making healthcare more accessible and focused on what really matters — getting people the care they need.
Some locations will have a quick validation system to make sure spaces are there for those actually visiting or working in the building. And we’re stepping up to cover the cost so hospital foundations aren’t left with a gap.
It’s a simple fix that removes a barrier and makes a real difference.

🕊️ April 6, 2025 – Honouring the Humboldt Broncos, 7 Years Later 💚💛
Today, we pause to remember the 16 lives lost and the 13 lives forever changed in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 6, 2018.
Seven years later, the pain of that day is still felt deeply across Canada and beyond. But so too is the powerful legacy of Logan Boulet and the incredible ripple effect of his decision to register as an organ donor. His selfless act inspired over 150,000 Canadians to follow his lead — a movement now known as the Logan Boulet Effect.
💚 On this solemn anniversary, Green Shirt Day stands with the families, teammates, first responders, and all who continue to carry this loss in their hearts.
💚 We honour the memory of the Broncos by continuing to share their story and encourage organ donor registration across the country.
💚 Let us continue to turn tragedy into hope — one green shirt, one conversation, one donor registration at a time.
📅 Green Shirt Day is tomorrow — April 7. Wear green to honour Logan, the Broncos, and to inspire organ donor awareness and registration. Together, we can make a difference.

The size of the hospitals cannot keep up with the size of our population. You can't force people to work in healthcare either. Healthcare workers get sick, get injured, go on holiday, take a day off, people burn out - all the same things you and I do at our jobs. – at Saanich, British Columbia
As Calgary grows, our recreation facilities are being shut down one by one….in a cold weather city we need pools and recreation.
It started off as a housekeeping item to confirm a prior #yyccc decision, and ended as a values-based conversation on budget and recreation.
In the end, the Inglewood pool will still close permanently in December. #yyc #calgary

Of course there is a "black hat gang" with direct sway in the Alberta premier's office and of course they want "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" enshrined in a provincial Bill of Rights. Who's going to tell them the world is not a 1950s western? cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/a…
So many good memories of kids’ birthday parties and swim classes there. Calgary’s @Vecova gave opportunities to staff with disabilities. Any possible synergies with @UCalgary ? Who are we if we can’t fund a facility like this? #yyc
Calgary-Varsity is losing an important facility that supports people of all abilities.
While @Vecova focuses on supporting people with disabilities it is also an important recreation facility for the local community. My children participated in recreation programs and swimming lessons at Vecova. My mother took classes to help her avoid falls. My neighbours use supports for people with dementia, including supports for caregivers. Unfortunately, it will close by June 2025 as the building cannot make it through another summer.
